Fall 2013 Downtown Bike Count Tuesday, September 24th & Saturday, September 28th

On Tuesday, September 24th and Saturday, September 28th the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), with the help of 40 volunteers, conducted the 2013 Fall Downtown Bike Count. The counts were conducted between 7 - 9 AM and 4 - 6 PM on Tuesday and 12 - 2 PM on Saturday. The count boundaries surrounded the Central Business District along four screenlines; Chicago Ave., Canal St., Harrison St., and the Lakefront Trail. A total of 15,568 cyclists were counted. 2,011 cyclists were counted using the newly available Divvy bike share bikes that launched on June 28th. Volunteers counted both inbound and outbound cyclists at 20 locations on Tuesday and 25 locations on Saturday.
