MINUTES OF THE MEETING

MINUTES:

1. CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order and was presided over by UHSMAA
Pres. Joper.

2. REVIEW OF THE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

Minutes of the meeting held last August 9, 2008 was reviewed and
accepted, except where 2.1b was amended to read:

2.1b All graduating students have been paying P100.00 each as

Alumni Fee, which is not included in their Tuition or Miscellaneous Fees.
For the years 1995-2003, the Alumni Association had control over this
collection. However, from 2004-2006, the collections were turned over
to the PCU General Fund. From 2006 to the present, the collections
were turned over to the Alumni Office to pay for operation expenses.
As of July 2007, the amount of P324,123.48 (Three Hundred Twenty

 Centavos) is in a Joint Savings Account at Export Import Bank, Buendia
Branch, with Mr. Gecolea and Ms. Lina Gison as joint signatories.

3. UPDATES FROM PREVIOUS ALUMNI OFFICERS

3.1. Mr. Gecolea, Past President of UHSMAA reported that the Funds
under the management of the UHSMAA have been used to support
scholarships of deserving students. An updated bank statement will
be presented at the next meeting for the new officers’ reference.
3.2. Donations by Alumni are also deposited in the account with Export
Import Bank. Only the interests earned from this deposit are used
to support the scholarships and other expenses.
3.3. The Alumni Association has not been registered with the Securities
& Exchange because it was considered unnecessary before.

4. ACTION ITEMS

4.1. Register UHSMAA with SEC to establish legal identity of the

organization.
4.2. Create By Laws of the Association (to be further discussed).
4.3. Set Induction Date for the New Officers – Mr. Angel will inquire from
the Office of the PCU President &/or Vice President when will they
be available to induct the officers.
4.4.Invite the core team of each batch to attend the next meeting on
September 20.
4.5. Assist in conducting a search for the 10 Outstanding UHSM Alumni
who had shown exemplary achievement in their chosen fields and
who had at one way or another contributed to the promotion of the
school’s image and objectives. Per Mr. Angel’s info, the search was
suggested by PCU and the Final 10 must be chosen before
Foundation Week (October).
4.6. Continue to invite other alumni to sign up with the UHSM Alumni
International Forum (www.manilaunionhigh.org) website to foster
camaraderie as well as to update alumni databases also.

5. NEXT MEETING

Mr. Jack Sy, Past UHSMAA President extended his invitation thru Ms.
Espie to host a dinner on September 13 at his home to welcome the
New Officers and to honor the contributions of the Outgoing Alumni
Officers.

 A general meeting which will include Batch Coordinators is scheduled
on September 20, Saturday 8 a.m. at the Alumni Office.

6. OTHER MATTERS

6.1. Ms. Lina is appointed as Treasurer-in-Trust for the existing account,

until the registration process is completed and funds are turned
over to a new UHSMAA account. A Resolution will be passed later to
officially name the signatories to this account.
6.2. October 10, 2009 is tentatively set as the date for the 90th
Anniversary Celebration. This date was chosen for easy recall
(10/10) and to coincide with the Foundation Week of PCU.
6.3.Mr. Romeo Gecolea, Ms. Lina Gison, Ms. Ma. Luisa Cedilla and Mr.
Jack Sy now comprise UHSMAA’s Board of Trustees.

7. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further matter to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
