YUE FREQUENCY DETAILS FREQUENCY 3-6 mos: 3 x 1/3 cup 6-12 mos: 2 x cup 1-8 yrs: 2 x cup LADY DETAILS For home-cooked meals: Meat (boiled white breast chicken, fish, liver and organs), Brown rice, Green beans, Peas, Carrots, baked sweet potatoes and regular potatoes, Spinach, Broccoli, Zucchini, Fruits (blueberries, blackberries, bananas and pumpkin). Limit salt (and be careful of adding high salt content broths) Brush your Pug right before the bath using a rubber brush or a flea comb. You should place your Pug in the bath after you have filled it with 3 inches or so of warm water. Running water might scare her so avoid it. Wash the head and face very thoroughly and carefully. Using a soft washcloth, clean inside all folds of the skin. Use a conditioner as well, since shampoo alone can be drying, which leads to breakage. When drying: Rubbing can irritate skin and for this reason patting often works best. Brush over the entire coat with a bristle brush. Offer hard foods (raw baby carrots) as snacks for strong healthy teeth. Have a good selection of teething toys. Keep water fresh and cold, changing it often and adding crushed ice to keep it chilled. Offer ice cubes (plain or flavored) -

A. Feeding

Twice a day of canned food with dry food in between.

Avoid an all-carbs diet. Avoid dry food. Feed food rich in protein. Canned food is better. Treats are good for in between meals.

B. Grooming Only when necessary (something dirtied its fur, has ticks, etc.) OR Every 3 months Trim nails a day before bathing. Brush hair before bathing. Bathe when at the most relaxed feeling (after meal). Wear protective clothing to avoid scratches. Use the appropriate shampoo. Use a washcloth to massage the shampoo on your cats body. Go from head to tail. Avoid shampoo on his face. Fill the tub with 4-5 inches of warm water. Ready another 2 buckets for rinsing. Avoid running water in the cats presence as it frightens them. For training: Give a treat or reward after bathing. You can care for short or closecoated cat hair by lightly moving a soft chamois over the coat. Dry foods are abrasive and help keep the teeth clean and sharp. There are special catnip chews and feline Greenies (dental treats) that may help your cat keep those teeth clean. You can get small toothbrushes just for cats.

LADY DETAILS when placed on a linoleum floor, the ice can offer a lot of fun while a puppy chases it around and it offers a bit of relief to sore gums. Canine tooth brushes work best. Start by taking a week to rub your dog's teeth each day. Spend about 3 to 4 minutes per day. Do this in a relaxed setting. Try to touch all of the teeth. Start on one side and slowly work your way around the mouth. Repeat a key word such as "Teeth" or "Brush" as you do this, so that your dog can put the word to the action. During the moments that your Pug sits still for this, offer praise and finish the session off with a pat and a small healthy treat (a raw, baby carrot is a great healthy snack). After a week or so, work your way up to using a canine finger tooth brush or a toothbrush for toy/small sized breeds. During the first few days, do not apply paste but do wet the brush with water. Again, repeat the key word. Now, it will be time to use paste. Since dogs cannot spit the paste out, it will be very important to use a quality canine toothpaste since the human equivalent can be toxic if swallowed. Expect a bit of resistance, knowing that the goal is to allow your Pug to become accustomed to the feeling of the paste and the cleaning process. Remember to use the chosen word and remember to relax... Canines are fantastic at picking up on the mood of their owner. The tone in which a person speaks, as well as words used, send a message.

Once a day for 3-4 minutes

YUE FREQUENCY DETAILS FREQUENCY Once a year

LADY DETAILS Have a full dental check-up once a year. The mouth area must be kept clean and dry; a bit of a challenge since the Pug dog can be known to snort, sneeze, snore and drool. Each day an owner should take just a minute or so to first clean the folds with baby wipes. Once all is clean, the owner should then go over the areas a second time with a dry, soft wash cloth (cotton tips work well also) to make sure that no moisture remains.

Nails Every 2 weeks Others When necessary

For about a week before you start clipping, spend a few minutes each day gently massaging her paws while petting her affectionately. Cat clippers come in many varieties, but just make sure that your clippers are sharp. Make sure only to clip the tips and never clip the pink part of the nail, as this contains live tissue. Clip only a couple of nails at a time if the cat begins to fidget. Give him a treat and praise him immediately after you finish your clipping session for the day. Place scratching posts around your home. To clean the eyes use a soft washcloth or a square of cotton dipped in tepid water. Hold your cat's head and wipe the damp cloth gently across her lower eyelid. Be careful not to rub the eyeball directly.

Every 3-6 months

It is not an exaggeration to say that nails left to grow long can cause a dog to walk with an irregular gait that can lead to skeletal damage. The nails should be trimmed at the point where they begin to hook over.

When necessary

If you clearly can see an outside element on your Pug's eyeball, you should attempt to lift the eyelid up and over the eye. If that does not "catch" the culprit, you should then gently cleanse the eye with sterilized water. You will want to periodically check the underside of the paws for any

You want to make sure that the fur around the anus does not grow too long, since feces can easily stick to the coat here and prevent proper hygiene. Clean the ears with a moistened cotton ball. The goal is to remove any dirt, debris and extra wax. If there is puss, excessive liquid wax, an area of red irritation within the inside of the ear it is time to head out to the vet; as these symptoms may point to an infections. It is recommended that you take your dog outside: immediately after any confinement (out from a gated area, etc.), when he or she first wakes up, right before bedtime, and 10 to 15 minutes after eating. Keep your puppy close to be able to immediately see when he is making motions of getting ready to eliminate and you can step in and lead him outside. It is best to choose one area that you wish for your Pug puppy to do his business. However, a dog needs the freedom of choosing the perfect spot within that area. Keeping a routine is helpful for both owner and Pug. There should be at least 1 daily walk of 20 to 30 minutes. Practice the command heel. Avoid going out during very hot weather as this breed overheats too quickly.
