Mayors Special Events for Seniors

October 16, 2013 Dear volunteer coordinator: Plans are underway for the 2013 Mayors Holiday Festival scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. The City of Jacksonville has produced this event for more than thirty years with a great deal of community support. This celebration allows thousands of senior citizens the opportunity to be among friends, savor a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings, and enjoy outstanding entertainment, a visit from Santa Claus and fabulous door prizes. Approximately 3,000 seniors will be attending this Holiday Festival. Some have little or no family in the area and will probably spend the holidays alone. They truly look forward to this event each year to spend time with others and to celebrate the season. To pull off an event of this magnitude, we need a large contingent of volunteers. This would be a great opportunity for students to earn community service hours. Volunteers will be needed for the following: We will need assistance with set up, decorating, serving and clean up. Shifts: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. Set up & decorate Serving and clean up 100 volunteers needed 250 volunteers needed

Please call me at 630-2681or e-mail at: mferrell@coj.net to schedule your volunteers. Thanks for your assistance. Sincerely,
