is the place to be Students share their favorite activities in Washington By Eva Woolridge

For students like senior Omari Pinkey or sophomore Willa Schneiderhan, college towns can often be limited and become primeval by their junior year. The entertainment will soon become uninteresting and the same Chipotle order will eventually be unsatisfying. When this happens to students, they dont just settle for College Park, they branch out to the nearest city that is only a short metro ride awayWashington. Students who travel to Washington for a wider range of activities have shared their favorite city hotspots. As a criminal justice major, Pinkey finds himself traveling to Washington four times a week. I like to walk around and visit museums like the Museum of National History and the Aerospace Museum, said Pinkey, if he is not working at the Court Services Offender Supervision Agency. He also suggests for those who are night owls to watch live performances such as his band The New Retro, which performs in various bars on Dupont Circle. Schneiderhan, who is a finance and film studies double major, normally does not travel to Washington during the school year. Alternatively, when summer strikes, Scheneiderhan enjoys outdoor movie screenings like Screen on the Green on the National Mall. On a gigantic movie screen, attendees are able to enjoy watching classic films on warm summer nights. Junior Megan Lueng, family sciences major, would rather balance the summer heat with the winter cold by ice-skating. I like going ice skating in Georgetown because it is nice out and they play music, Lueng said. (more)
