1SKY AND WILLIAM “DOCK” WALLS HOST BEACH PARTY TO TURN UP THE
HEAT ON SENATORS DURBIN AND BURRIS FOR A STRONGER ENERGY BILL
AND GREEN JOBS
What if we had a strong energy bill to create 5 million green jobs, reduce carbon
emissions by using clean, renewable energy, and prevent new coal plants from being
built? This is part of the message that 1Sky, William “Dock” Walls, and other climate
control and grassroots organizers are delivering during their beach party press
conference at 10 a.m. Mon. August 10 in the atrium lower level at 1727 S. Indiana
Chicago IL 60616.
IL gubernatorial candidate William Walls proclaims with 1Sky, “Illinois constituents are
turning up the heat on U.S. Senators Roland Burris and Dick Durbin to support a strong
clean energy bill for the nation that includes climate control and 5 million green jobs.”
There’s only one sky. “One Climate, One Future, One Chance now to save the planet,“
according to 1Sky organizers, environmentalists, and a diverse grassroots united for
climate control, clean energy, green jobs, and blue skies that future generations can
count on.
With Chicago being a city high in asthma and carbon emissions with high
unemployment and energy costs, the nonpartisan 1Sky Chicago Regional Group will
announce its rally to be held later in August on the federal rally outside the offices of
Senators Burris and Durbin.
The group wants Congress to pass a strong clean energy bill and plan to meet with the
senators to discuss their issues with the ACES (American Clean Energy and Security
Act of 2009) House bill and how the Senate can pass the best energy bill possible to
demonstrate that environmental justice, the well-being of the people and protection of
the planet is paramount to pleasing polluters from Big Oil, Dirty Coal, and other
industries with high carbon emissions.
According to Dr. Ayo Maat, “People who are disabled have the lowest employment rate
of any group in the nation.”
