He wanted to be strong so that he could protect you Liana, he wanted the prep girls to stop bullying you, he knew he couldn't do that while he was with you, people in our school considered him as a loser because

he hung around you all the time. He could defend you, but he couldn't stop them from bullying you, that's why he decided to push you away so that he could protect you,

I stared at Cole and wondered whether what he told me was true. Maybe it was true, because Asher was always the stupid one out of us.

It was easy to figure out! Maybe because the second thing he did after befriending the jocks and cheerleaders was ask them to stop mocking you, he said he wanted to play with you, he told them never to cross in your path and guess what, those losers believed him. They thought Asher wanted to hurt you by himself, but I was always more brilliant, a dry chuckle escaped his lips.

You may be wrong, I said. I couldn't believe it. Asher wasn't trying to protect me.

Maybe Asher was stupid; he chose the wrong way to protect you. I saw how devastated you were without Asher. I knew you'd have been happy with all those girls bullying you if Asher was by your side, but Asher's stupid brain couldn't work that out. He mocked you because he wanted to prove to everyone that he didn't care for you, but that stupid boy didn't keep his emotions in check, because whenever he looked at you, his eyes would melt and that gave him away

That gave his enemy, ME, a perfect plan to destroy him, I wanted to push Asher out of his limits, I wanted to convince my friends that Asher still did care about you and that Asher didn't belong to our circle. So I chose my target. YOU. You're the easier one to hurt. You accepted me easily, because you were trying to revive from Asher. Cole said silently.

You're manipulative, I said silently.

Yeah, I was Liana, I still feel bad about that, but don't interrupt, I want to tell you everything, I want to let go of my burden, I can't lift these weights anymore, and they're killing me slowly. I want to beg, I will plead, but please let me finish it, he begged and I nodded my head as he sighed.

At first I felt really bad about all of it, but when I saw Asher raging inside once he saw me with you, I knew I was right. That was the easier way to hurt Asher, because I knew he didn't care about anyone except you. Because I knew even though he was acting all carefree about not being with you, he was really in pain inside. I knew his mask was going to tear, I didn't know when. So I used to sit with you and laugh. I scolded myself for being cruel, but when I saw Asher smiling and laughing with my friends, girls worshipping Asher, I couldn't stop.
