The Mission of Creek County Literacy Program

The Mission of the Creek County Literacy Program is to encourage, educate and equip aspiring readers to overcome the barriers of illiteracy. Creek County Literacy Program has been making a difference in Creek County since 1989. Creek County Literacy Program offers reading Instruction, Testing and Tutoring to Learners at no cost. Programs include: Adult Basic Education and GED Pre-Prep Classes After School Tutoring for Children Computer and Workplace Literacy Skills Ongoing programs designed for Adult Learners First Book A program designed to give books to underprivileged children Family and Health Literacy A time for families to come together for education, books, crafts and a light meal Guarding Angels A mentoring program for 5th and 6th grade girls Caring Grands A time for adult seniors to read one-on-one with 1st and 2nd grade children Adult Book Club A time for Adult Learners to come together for discussion, books, word puzzles and a dinner

ADULT BOOK CLUB

MONTHLY
Ongoing Event Our Learners come together each month for Adult Book Club. Learners and Tutors have a lively discussion over the chapter book and author. They discuss the upcoming chapter book over dinner, as well as enjoy related word puzzles and games. Learners are able to take the Book Club selection home in order to build their personal home library.
