Take a beam of rectangular cross section

Measure its dimensions
Put it on two simple supports
Fix a load on it at the center of its length
Measure the deflection caused by the load at the point of application of the load
Repeat this reading at least five times to find the uncertainty of measurement
Increase the load slowly and measure the deflection for each load (only once)
Change the beam with a beam of the same material, length and thickness but of different width.
Repeat steps 3,4,5,7,8
Change the beam with a beam of the same material and thickness but of different width.
Repeat steps 3,4,5,7,8
Plot the deflection vs load for the three beams on the same figure along with the theoretical curves
and discuss the results.

Take tank with a facilities of level measurement, level adjustment, flow discharge and flow control.
Measure the diameter and length of the discharge pipe.
Open the discharge valve so that flow takes place.
Adjust the flow rate into the tank so that level of water in the tank remains constant.
Collect the water in a container.
Find the time taken for collecting. 5 liters of water.
Repeat this reading for at least five times so as to measure the uncertainty of measurement.
Change the head of the water. With out any change in the discharge pipe
Repeat the steps 3,4,5,and 6.

Repeat the steps 3,4,5,and 6.
Calculate the volume flow rate and velocity through the pipe in all above cases.
Plot volume flow rate vs head and discuss the results.
