Prerna Vatsa

This chapter focuses on the relationship between Marina and Anna. A frame within a frame story is narrated here as Marina conveys the long relationship that she had with Mikhail in the past. She tells Anna that in the 2nd year after they had met she became pregnant with a boy, thus justifying the attachment she had towards Kolya. Anna gets to know about the poems that Mikhail wrote for her, which Vera also read

At the end of this chapter we get a peek of Marinas thoughts, as she compares the character of Anna with her mother Vera thinking how alike they are.
