GME Resources has appointed MWORX Metallurgical Consultants and Tenova Bateman Technologies to complete a conceptual Scoping Study for a nickel laterite processing operation at its 100% owned NiWest Project. The study will be based on a 3.5 million tonne per annum Heap Leach operation which optimises the current resource base of 75 million tonnes at 1% nickel and 0.06% cobalt. It will also consider lower production rates allowing reduced infrastructure costs and utilise existing regionally available reagents. A proposed downstream processing circuit will utilise Solvent Extraction and Electrowinning technology to produce LME cathode nickel and cobalt carbonate product. Scope of Work includes a conceptual flow sheet and layout, preliminary mass balance,

Axiom Mining is seeking the green light to develop the world-class Isabel Nickel Deposits in the much anticipated Solomon Islands High Court hearing to commence on October 14. Sumitomo Metal Mining launched unsuccessful legal action against the Solomon Islands Government and local landowners in 2007 following the Governments refusal to grant an extension of the preliminary Letter of Intent for exploration activities on Isabel. The Solomon Islands Government issued an International Tender for the Isabel Nickel Deposits, one of the Pacifics largest, in 2010. Sumitomo then secured LOIs over the three main nickel mineralised area however, in 2011, the landowners successfully petitioned for cancellation. Axiom was invited into the Solomons in 2010 by the two key local landowner groups, the Kolosori landowners on Santa Isabel Island and the Bungusule landowners on San Jorge Island. A ground-breaking joint venture, Axiom KB, was formed with each tribe holding 10%. In 2011, Axiom KB secured a 50-year lease over the Kolosori land plus 2 LOIs over those areas where agreement with landowners had been secured, subsequently converted to a Prospecting Licence. This Licence became the focus of renewed legal action from Sumitomo in July 2011 as they sought to halt Axioms exploration activities. Notably, in October 2012, the Court of Appeal set aside previous rulings which were adverse to Axiom. The 14 October 2013 hearing will deal with those remaining issues in dispute including the validity of the 2010 International Tender. A decision in Axiom's favour gives the company control of a goliath and sought after nickel laterite deposit, and the removal of uncertainty will likely lead to sustained strength in market performance.
