ACT 1 SCENE 1. 1ST PERSON PERSPECTIVE (Walking Around her house getting ready for school) Thought voice: Sometimes, saying the wrong thing at the wrong time causes a fissure in your life that crumbles everything youve ever wanted into pieces, straight into the fiery pits of hell. Sorry for the pessimistic analogy. This is the story about how my life became a raging inferno. My name is Maria Riza Ejares. And as you may have guessed, Im a bit of a loser.

ACT 1 SCENE 2. (Maya going to school) Thought voice: The world is a sea, a sea of people, someone one said. Well, I disagree. The world isnt a sea, its a flash flood. Well, maybe not the whole worlds a flash flood, but maybe just the teenage world, I guess. And those trying to go against the current will only just struggle feebly and in the end get swept by the raging waters. For years Ive been going against the current, unknowingly holding on to an invisible rope that symbolizes my dislike for anything mainstream. But this year, Im not gonna be the weird girl anymore. Im gonna be cool. My 3rd year in college is gonna be different. Back in highschool, I was bullied because I was a stuck-up teachers pet. In college, thats still me, even though I tried changing that. (bumps into Pamela in the hallway) Pamela: *Rolls her eyes* gamita sad na imung mata bi. Agnes: Haha! Nawa sad na sya, naai glasses pero wai pulos! Maya: Ai sorry pam.

Thought voice: Thats Pamela, the queen bee of my batch of architecture students. And those flanking her are Queennie and Agnes. I thought in college, those stereotypical gossip-loving pretty and popular girls dont exist. Well I guess I was wrong. Well, when it comes to socializing, Im always wrong. My 1st year and 2nd year in college is still a fail though. Ive tried to be less a teachers pet. Ive tried not speaking in English so people wont think Im a snob. But in my mind I have this awesome new Yorker accent. Oh. Here comes Jessa. Ill try talking to her. (Speaks to Jessa sitting outside the classroom) Maya: Hi jess, bugnaw lage ang panahon ba? Jessa: Bugnaw or Tugnaw? Weird. Thought voice: Gah. I dont know the difference between Bugnaw and Tugnaw, but whatever. Try to make small talk. Maya: *awkward laugh* awwwww lageh Tugnaw diay. Kabuhat nakag assignment sa prof prac? Jessa: Wala rba. Busy kaau ko, mangadto meg Rome next week. Pero mrag wala pmai nagbuhat sa assignment. Ikaw? Thought voice: Ah yes, Im speaking to the richest student in my class. Maya: *quickly stashing back her prof prac assignment in her bag* ai wala pman sad. Hahahaha Lorry: OI MARIA! *lorry running from the CR* GANINA RA TIKA GIPANGITA! Maya: Lorreh bebs! Daan ko pa lage naa ka sa CR. Aha man si Kedo? Lorry: Naa naman ata sa classroom. Balo nka saako bei. Lorry: Ta ali ta! *Enter classroom, but stands in doorway* Thought voice: Welcome to Bachelor of Science in Architecture Section 3-C. *fast forward zoom in* thats Joesa and Tonet. Scholars. (Joesa and tonet making assignments) Thats Malvie and Vincent. Computer addicts *Vincent ug dano ga laptop* Those girls are Pamela, Agnes and Queennie. And thats Queennies boyfriend Tristan. Popular girls. *sitting in a circle, queennie and Tristan nag PDA) That dude over there is Kedo, hes my bestfriend.

Act 1. Scene 3. *Classes Start* Maya: Chui nana si maam. *pulls lorry to a seat next to kris* Kris: Dugaia kayo ninyo oi. Patabang unta kos assignment. Ai maya.. gidal.an diay tikag chocolates oh, kai kuan. Sobra sa gipasalubong ni mama.. Maya: salamat kris. Kris: ui, November 3 ba. Naa kui gig sa punchbowl. Tanaw ha? Maya: sure kris. Wences: Good evening/afternoon class. We are going to have a quiz on what we discussed last week, Disability law. *whole class begins begging not to have a quiz.* Wences: Kailangan mu mamawi guys kai finals na, dghan raba kabagsakun, labi na si Ajoc nga cgeg cutting. Present siya karun? Eugene: Maam absent! Wences: okay, get 1 whole sheet of paper. *everyone shuffles around asking for paper* Thought voice: I dont like this part where they ask for paper. I dont give away paper. They should learn to bring their own. Pamela: Maya, ngayo ko papel. Maya: Sorry bai, para rani samung 3 ni kedo ug lorry. Pamela *sipat* whispers to queennie: nawa lage, daan ko pa lge passive nasad. zzzz Wences: Okay get one and pass. Start as soon as you get the questionnaires. *pag start sa quiz, nagsugod nadayun. Dawbi nigawas man si winces, nisugod na ang krimen* *pagmusulod xa, mu silent, paggawas, musaba* Thought voice: I dont know why they insist on copying from Each others work. They all didnt study so they all have no idea what to write on paper. Hee. Ill just answer quietly. Tamsy: *whispers* maya! Number 6 bii, unsai standard height sa railing sa disabled? Thought voice: this has always been the hardest part. Saying no to tamsy. Its always been like this in every quiz. And now I feel conflicted. Everyone: *shocked stare* Thought voice: today is the day change is gonna start *throws paper at Vincent* today is the day Wences: Ms Ejares you have been caught cheating. Act 1. Scene 4. Wences: Okay class pass your papers. 8pm na. Well have 5 minute break. Pass your assignment when we come back. *everyone passes their papers* Thought voice: well, I tried. And this is where it got me. A failed quiz. Im gonna pass my assignment. I dont care if they all get mad at me. *looks at tamsy and lorry. Both are looking at each other with googly eyes and theyre laughing* Maya: adto sa ko cr loii. Lorry: mm yeah sure *maya goes to the cr, sits in the cubicle* *hears voices coming in* Queennie: I feel really sick. Agnes, tawagi sa si Tristan beh. Pls. Agnes: tarung queen, okay rka? Thought voice:Come to think of it, queennie has been looking pretty sick for the past month. I didnt delve to deeply into it. But I think Im about to uncover something pretty big. I know its bad to eavesdrop but I cant just get out of my cubicle now! Dammit. Agnes: nara siya queen. Tristan: queen unsa man? Queennie: *starts sobbing* tris. 3 weeks late na akung period. Lorry: yaay ayaw ana tams! *both return to classroom* Thought: So here I am. The feeling of numbness brought by the betrayal of my bestfriend sinks in. Im stuck with nothing but anger. Something deep inside of me has turned to ice.*goes back into cr to get her assignment in profprac from the garbage can, sees queennie gapagwapa* Maya: *arte voice* oi queennie. *queennie looks at her in terror* Im going to change. Sem break is next week. When I come back, Im going to be awesome. Im going to change. And nobody will ever think of pushing me around ever again.

ACT 2: AFTER SEMBREAK Act 2. Scene 1. Though voice: If theres one quote I believe in, its pain changes people. Obviously nobody wants to feel pain over and over again, thats for sure. So yeah theres the emo guys and the goth chicks who love the pain, but the truth is they just want attention. Today, Im not that different from them. Today, Ill be turning heads so fast their necks will make cracking sounds. *maya walking down the hallway* Lorry: maya! Tamsy: ui maya *maya ignores lorry* Eugene: hi maya. Maya:*stops and smiles at Eugene* hello *enters classroom* Thought voice: its amazing how wearing makeup and changing your hairstyle can cause a mass gossip brigade. Kris: *sits beside maya* maya, musta? Maya: *only barely raises her eyebrows* ok lng Kris: ganahan ko saimung bag.o look ai. Uh chui2 jpun. Maya: yeah, chui. Kris: hmm. Though: oh yeah, queennie. Well she threatened to tell Lorry about my big change so I told her sister about her pregnancy. Cruel, I know. But I know her sister wouldnt tell her parents. I cant believe I was more of a loser than them. November 3 ei? Thats the day Ill throw away my disgusting worm casing and fly away with my damn butterfly wings.

Act 2. Scene 2. Thought voice: teenage parties. Typically, the elements that make this noisy event a party are loud pop music, food, drinks, and a whole mob of rebellious teenagers. Im proud to say Im one of those rebellious teenagers. Eugene: OI MAYA! Diri ta inom oh! Ali! Saamo pag uban ug party! *scenes of wild parties* *maya niadto sa bar* ngayo kug water. Pamela: grbe jud imung pagbag.o may aba? Maya: alang, kapoi na cgeg ka daog. Pamela: pero I know? Mas but.an ka sauna! Honestly wala kaau kay angay saimu hitsura. Unya pa flirt2 paka kang Eugene? Goshness, hes mine so back off! Poser r aka nga feelingun!

Maya: *smiles* *slaps Pamela**ni silent tanan* happy birthday! Everyone: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!!!! Thought: so I was having the time of my life, and I only remember things a bit blurry. I had too much to drink. *stumbles on the balcony* Lorry: Maya! Nara ka! Asa man ka gikan? Nganu naa ka dre? Act 2. Scene 4. Thought voice: its been almost 2 weeks since that wild wild party. It was supposed to be the turning point of my life but as usual, the universe seems to throw everything back in my face before it crumbles to pieces. *walking down the hallway* Tonet: ingun nila kai sa ktng party, si maya moi pinaka hubog Joesa:lagi. Test rto para Makita kng knsai mupasa. Get 1/8 sheet of paper, write your name on it and pass. Thought voice: ever since that day at the party, Ive had no care whatsoever for my education. Its like, who gives a crap? *wences starts giving out papers* Wences: ejares! Thought voice: yeah, Im sure Im not gonna fail this subject. Its a piece of cake. *opens paper* 3.1 Thought voice: come to think of it, I havent passed that assignment. I left it in the garbage can that day I found out about lorry and tamsy. Winces: class dismissed! *kedo leaves without a single glance at maya but leaves a piece of chocolate on her table* Walks out of school alone Thought voice: What have I done to myself? Had I traded my soul for popularity? Ive yet to make sure I really am pregnant. Ive failed prof prac 1, my favorite subject. Ive lost my scholarship. Ive lost my bestfriend in the whole wide world. I was blessed with everything I needed to have a good life, and I threw them all away. What have I done? *crosses thestreet* *drops her stuff**a truck is coming at full speed Maybe this is the end. *blare of the siren* *maya closes her eyes* ACT 3: A SURPRISE Maya wakes up suddenly, clutching her chest. Thought: Damn. That felt too real. *starts walking around the house* Thought: acceptance is the key to moving forward. If you learn to love your flaws, nobody can use them against you. Life isnt always fair, but thats what makes life more interesting and fun to live with. The blessings youve got today, learn to love them, because youll only know what you had when youve lost them.
