In this universe, there are three realms that exist side by side. These are the human world, Assiah, and the demon world, Gehenna, and the Shinigami world. Travel between the two worlds is complicated. There is a portal which demons and humans can use to alternate between the parallel realms. The shinigami, however, can freely phase through realms. But humans are too weak to withstand the warp, and therefore no human can enter the demon world. However, there was one human who was strong enough to withstand the journey to the demon world. He was a sage with immense spiritual power. Realising the threat that the portal posed to peaceful co-existence, he used his power to seal the portal partially. He altered it such that only weak demons could pass through it. The sage realized that his spell would not stand the test of time, and hence signed a contract with the Shinigami realm. The shinigami, or death gods as they are known to humans and demons alike, are powerful beings that did not interact with the humans or the demons until then. The sage asked the shinigami to protect the human world after this death in exchange for his most powerful book of spells, and access to his archive of knowledge in the human world. The shinigami agreed. 1000 years on, the portal still stands, but the sages spell has lost some of its effect. The demon council, recognizing this, decide to take advantage of the weakened portal, and send a group of magicians to weaken the portal even further from the human side. The portal gradually weakens, but it requires the mages 6 human months to weaken it enough for a demon general to pass through.The mages work in secret and almost complete the task, until, 3 days before the magics completion, a young death god named X discovers them. X proceeds to attack them, and defeats them all, as the 6 mages are not effective fighters. He returns to the shinigami realm, unaware that there was once more mage who was hiding during the attack. This last mage completes the ritual, and successfully weakens the portal. The demon council then decides to finally wage war on the human world, as they want to expand their territory. The demon god Asura, along with his three trusted generals and countless weaker demons proceed to enter the human world and lay waste to it. A

shinigami spy in the demon world reveals the plan to the superior death gods and they decide to send their troops to defend the human world. The death gods intercept the demons before they can enter the human world and a huge war ensues. The two sides seem to be evenly matched, and the 4 most important battles are underway. The three strongest Shinigami A,B, and C take on the demon lords three generals. After a close battle, the three generals are defeated but A,B, and C are weakened. The demon lord then makes his grand appearance and defeats the three single handedly. X then joins the fight and awakens his true power. He surprises the demon lord with his hidden power, but even with his newfound strength, he is unable to defeat him. The demon lord then prepares to land the finishing blow on X, as A,B, and C look on, unable to do anything, as they were paralyzed by the demon lords attack. Cs desire to save his friend overcomes his physical condition, and he jumps in the way of the demon lords attack aimed at X, as he does not have enough time to block the attack with his powers. In his weakened state, the blow is enough to kill him. X is shocked at his friend and superiors last act, while the demon lord laughs at Cs stupidity. -----Emotional scenes between C and X-----. The demon lord launches another attack at X, but this time he takes it head on. After a huge explosion, X appears, unscathed, with a new aura around him. C had transferred all his power to X before taking the attack from the demon lord, and X, in his powered-up state, vows to avenge his fallen friend. Another cataclysmic battle ensues and this time X has the upper hand. He pushes the demon lord around with his newly attained power and has him on the ropes. The demon lord resorts to his last reserve of power and goes all out. Now they are evenly matched. They fight, trading blow for blow, neither succumbing to the others power. Finally, X staggers, and the demon lord lands a direct hit on him. X lies on the ground, as the demon lord approaches the portal, and is about to enter the human world. The demon lord commends the death gods efforts to stop him, but tells them that they underestimated him. He turns to the portal, when X stands up and shoots a lightning bolt at him making him stop. Enraged, he resumes his pummeling of the protagonist, all the while confused as to how he can still stand up. X, now almost dead, replies that his friends give him the power to do anything. After this, A and B launch a surprise attack from behind, stunning the demon lord. A and B then proceed to continually attack the demon lord, using every inch of power that they have left. The demon lord again pushes away A and B but they were just stalling while X was charging up his strongest attack. X lands a direct hit on the demon lord and finally defeats him with his last attack. The death gods then retreat, victorious. Later, on the deserted battlefield, as a death god minion comes to inspect the battlefield for any remains of his comrades, he is suddenly devoured by a demon in the shadows. The death god then rises slowly, with a sinister smile on his face that sends chills down the viewers spines. NOTE : After Cs sacrifice, X becomes the Lightning Fire Devil Slayer.
