Agni, who are Susamiddha, invoker, purifier, bring hither the gods to the offerers of our oblation, and do your sacrifice. [The A_pris are twelve including a name of fire, naras'ansa. Su = well; sam = completely; iddha = indled; hence, Susamiddha = the thoroughly indled!.

Wise (Agni) who are Tanu napa t (! devourer of clarified butter), present this day our well"favoured sacrifice to the gods for their food. [Tanu_napa_t, deourer of clarified "utter #tanu_napa$; alternatively, tanu = own su"stance, or fuel, i.e. consumer of its own su"stance; napa_t = tanaya, son or offspring; alternatively, napa_t = who does not preserve, who destroys!.

(ay the three undecaying goddesses, givers of delight, #l.a , Sarasvati , and (ahi (! )ha rati ), sit down upon the sacred grass. [+ahi = (ha_rati; 'l.a_, Sarasvati_, (ha_rati_ are personifications of agni& agnimu_rtayah; they are also three personified flames of fire. Sva_ha_ is called the daughter of (r.haspati, son of An&giras #+aha_"ha_rata$; she is also the daughter of *a s.a and wife of Agni!.
