NOTICE FOR PARTICIPANTS

1. Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description is strictly prohibited during the course of the program. 2. Deviation from the set route for participants of this program is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out. 3. Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp. 4. This is an environment friendly trek. Do not litter any wrappers or spoil the trail in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp. 5. Buring of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any Non-Biodegradable Material in Jammu & Kashmir is an offence.

After the completion of program expedition, a photography competition will be held for which attractive cash prizes and certificates will be awarded. You may also send your entries in the form of colored slides or prints on the following subjects: Nature-birds, Flowers, Scenic Beauty, Camping and Trekking.The size of the prints should be 8 x 10. Please give brief details of the location of the subjects and also your name, address and group number on the reverse of the photograph.YHAI has the right to retain/use even the entries which are not selected for awards. Last date for submitting entries is 31st July 2014.

NATIONAL HERITAGE TREK 2014

BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM
Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing the National Heritage Trek expedition in some of the most scenic & beautiful areas of J & K. This 7 days trek touches unique heritage sites, green meadows & pastures, lofty mountains thick deodar forests, clear natural water springs, brooks & the holy river that flows just below the surface of the earth except at one location at Udhampur. This expedition offers the youth a new trekking route in the Pancheri Hills & combines a healthy outdoor activity with exposure to rich heritage of the state.

REPORTING DATES
You may chose to report at the base camp on any day from 1st May to 25th May 2014.

THINGS TO BRING ALONG WITH YOU

Rucksack (if You have one), Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon,Water purifying tablets, Pen Knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet, Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries.

PURPOSE
The purpose of the program is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough the rigors of plodding with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting national integration.

HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP

For National Heritage Trek, Our base camp is Udhampur, J&K which can be easily reached through buses, trains & flights can also be taken to the nearest city Jammu in order to reach the place, Udhampur is well connected to Jammu, Srinagar, Delhi & Dharamshala. Nearest railway station is Udhampur & Nearest Airport is Jammu.

PARTICIPATION FEE
Rs. 4500 per head for 7 Days enjoyable days. This includes nutritious vegetarian food, accommodation, equipments, training, forest entry fee and group insurance. Note : These programmes are exclusively for YHAI members. Membership is available at Base Camp/Online/State Branch/Units. YHAI Trekking expeditions are not subsidized by the Government or any donors. Important : YHAI group insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take insurance cover for your journey & other related matters.

HOW TO APPLY
Members desirous of joining this program may apply online through our website www.yhaindia.org or by filling up the prescribed registration form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, along with a DD of requisite amount in favor of Youth Hostels Association of India, payable at New Delhi. Members can also apply through the State Branch or Local Unit of YHAI.
Note : Without admit card, valid membership card & medical certificate do not claim your registration as confirmed.

AGE
The minimum age for joining the expedition is 15 years. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age will not be considered in any case.

SAFETY & SECURITY

Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of mountain biking route for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES
Tented accommodation, pucca toilet cum bathroom facility.

CANCELLATION
In case you are unable to join this trip you will get 50% of the program fee as refund, provided your request for cancellation and refund is received by email/ post / courier directly in the National Office on or before 5th April 2014. Please attach the copy of your Admit Card in your cancellation request. Seat once booked mat not be re-scheduled or transferred. There is no refund applicable for the all the program bookings done after 5th April 2014. Any unforseen event / strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. Refund may be given after 30 days of completion of the programs.

CERTIFICATES
Participants, who successfully complete the biking and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificates.

JUSTICE T.P.S. CHAWLA MEMORIAL ADVENTURE SCHOLARSHIP FOR GIRLS

YHAI announces Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
