The CMG-3ESP Compact is designed using all of GSLs experience in portable broadband seismometers. The Sensor has been designed to provide the needs of a truly low noise, high dynamic range , linear, portable broadband Seismometer of economic price.

CMG-3ESP COMPACT SPECIFICATIONS

The CMG-3ESPC seismometer is a compact version of the CMG-3ESP. It is used for traditional short period monitoring applications up to 50Hz (the lowest spurious resonance is above 140Hz) and for projects where flat intermediate period response to 60 seconds is needed. Optional responses can be provided, including 120s, 100s, 90s, 60s, 30s and 1 second. The CMG-3ESPC height has been reduced to 8 inches from lid to foot. The sealed, three-component housing is suited for surface vault, sub-surface vault, and post hole installation. A downhole lock and lock installer are available. All external metal parts are stainless steel. A waterproof breakout box and handheld control unit are available. A 24-bit digitizer module with up to 8 gigabytes of RAM, model CMG-DM24, can be added on top of the CMG-3ESPC.

The self noise performance of the CMG-3ESP Compact has been improved now giving customers an extremely compact portable weak motion sensor for the price and size of a medium motion sensor. High frequency noise crossing NLNM @18Hz (verified on CMG-3 testing at Sandia Laboratories) Long period noise below USGS NLNM to 30s.

The above picture shows an OBS version of the CMG-3ESPD compact. The unit is made from grade 5 titanium and has +/- 10 degrees leveling. Included is a3 channel 24-bit ADC and real-time clock module, data is outputted through an RS-232 port.
