Celebrating 125 years

In just a few short days, Yorks historical landmark will end its 125th year-long anniversary and move into the start of the next 125 years. Since the summer, multimedia journalist Sonya Paclob has worked Online: Watch on a mini-documenmini-documentary tary of Central Maron Yorks Central ket. Shes interviewed Market at YDR.COM people, taken photographs and shot video that captures the markets memories, architectural beauty, diversity, renovation and growth. On this page, we take one last look at some of the history and current vendors at the market for 2013.

Central Market shares its birthday in 1888 with other interesting points in history: Harpo Marx of the Marx Brothers was born. Marvin C. Stone of Washington, D.C., patented the wax drinking straw. Grover Cleveland was defeated in the Nov. 6presidential election by Benjamin Harrison. National Geographic magazine published for the first time. And the first indoor baseball game was played in Philadelphia.
