Project Management
PD 6079-4:2006 Project management. Guide to project management in the construction industry
PD 6079-4 is a guide to project management in the construction industry. It deals with the construction process from inception through to handover of the completed facility to the owner, occupier or operator. It is also applicable to projects involving the maintenance, repair, refurbishment, decommissioning and demolition of existing facilities. Its guidance is relevant to both domestic and international projects and to all project participants including clients, professional consultants and designers, and contracting organizations including main contractors, specialist works contractors and suppliers. It can be applied to projects of any size as it gives sound principles as a basis together with more specific recommendations that can be tailored for the specific project. As well as giving recommendations and guidance on the management of projects in the construction industry, it also gives a brief summary of the most relevant legislation for the convenience of project clients, designers, managers and contractors. PD 6079-4 should be of great benefit in bringing all the guidance relating to construction industry project management together in one document, to enable projects to be managed more effectively.
