An Open Letter in Support of the Black Student Union at the University of Michigan!

! !

We, the undersigned student organizations, write this letter in support of the Black Student Union and the demands they have made of the administration of the University of Michigan. We stand by their efforts to create and actualize a more equitable and just campus for all Black students. If the administration of this University truly holds a strong commitment to diversity and to creating a welcoming and inclusive community, then it must make sure that the demands of the Black Student Union become a reality. We believe that the administration can only effectively serve its Black students if it allows them to be active participants in creating an inclusive campus community. Black student voices must be at the center of these negotiations.!

! ! !

As fellow students, we have a stake in holding the administration and ourselves accountable to the list of demands provided by the Black Student Union. Otherwise, we cannot claim to have an equitable campus. We look forward to seeing the administration take concrete steps to prioritize the needs and demands of Black students at the University of Michigan. Signed,
