Council member Atkins I see in the Dallas News that the Economic Development Committee was briefed this

morning on the Dallas Executive Airport expansion. All of us in the southern half of Dallas have longed for more of the economic benefits that the northern half of Dallas has had for at least 50 years, and applaud you for your efforts on our behalf as you approach the end of your term on the city council. As this expansion project continues to be discussed at Dallas City Hall, many of us hope that town hall meetings are scheduled for citizen input in the very near future. Input and questions from your citizens in District 8, but also from Districts 1,3, 4, 6, 7 must be heard. Since the saying reads, "a rising tide lifts all boats", this project could affect many of us in Oak Cliff and beyond for decades in the future. You may be aware that as it was initiated, the "growSouth" project requested very little input from neighborhood and citizen groups for what we felt was needed in order to benefit our half of Dallas. Hence, we continue to read how even Mayor Rawlings has stated that he is not pleased with it's progress. Since "growSouth has not yet born substantial fruit that we can see, I feel that this airport expansion project is a rare opportunity for a do-over in that regard. I am requesting that as Chair of the Economic Development Committee, you exhibit herculean efforts to communicate with the previously mentioned council districts in order to organize town hall meetings for input on this important project before the project begins. We all look forward to hearing from you and our respective council members as well. Thank you for your service as District 8 City Council member
