Arts/Crafts/Food Vendors
The 30th Annual Boston (GA) Mini-marathon and Festival is set for Saturday, October 31st.
There are currently spaces for quality arts/crafts and food vendors. Please contact Paula

prompts to download registration forms. Arts/crafts booths are $30.00 without electricity or
$35.00 with electricity; food booths are $75.00 and that includes 110V electricity.
Race/Walk Events
Take advantage of the great fall weather and participate in the 30th Annual Boston (GA) Mini-
marathon! A part of the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix, the sanctioned run begins at 8:00
AM and covers 13.1 miles of pastoral countryside; water stops are provided as well as safety
patrols along the route. The 5K Walk begins at 8:05 AM and the 1-mile Fun Run at 8:10 AM.
Winners are recognized by age groups and awards will be presented during the awards cere-
mony at 11 AM. Call Brad Johnson, race director, at 498-8500 with questions or to request a

CHILI - CORNBREAD COOKOFF
A special feature of the 30th Annual Boston (GA) Mini-marathon and Festival is a cookoff for
chili and cornbread. So dust off those old favorite, family recipes and cook up a batch of chili
or cornbread or both and enter the competition. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and
third places in both categories; monetary prizes and trophies will be given. Joe Harris chairs
this event and says he expects this year’s cookoff to be the most exciting yet! More informa-

SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
Supplemental Educational Services are free tutoring and academic enrichment services man-
dated by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. These services are high-quality, research-
based, educational programs. These services provide additional academic instruction, which
is offered outside of the regular school day. The service is designed to increase the academic
achievement of low-income students (as defined by eligibility for free or reduced lunch) who
attend Brooks County High School. Supplemental Educational Services will also be offered to
students who attend Quitman Elementary. You may visit the Georgia Department of Education
website at www.doe.k12.ga.us for a list of state-approved providers that are offering supple-
mental educational services in your area. There is also a list enclosed in the information pack-
et sent out to parents of eligible students. Parents or guardians have until October 23, 2009
to make their selection and return their application to their child's school. Parents of eligible
students are invited to attend a Providers Fair on October 22, 2009 at 6:00. The Providers
Fair will be held at Brooks County High School. The Fair will give parents an opportunity to
meet with the providers and ask questions about the services they offer. Parents or guardians
