Name Suggestions

Sample connotes music, generally relates to the hip hop industry as artists sample others in their own music Block connotes the urban side of hip hop (from the block etc.) Feature a magazine title that would imply a large spread of features inside, many Interviews etc. Flava once again referring to the urban side of the rap industry, but a word that isnt really modernistic, but comes from the classic hip hop/rap artists, snoop dogg etc. Down down with it provides all the latest information and news pouring out from the industry.

Font Colours
Sample black; simple and clean. Reflects the stereotypical audience of the genre and would make it look it professional. Block I would use darker colours, maybe black, grey and dark blues and reds. This is further connoting the urban side of rap, bloods and crips etc. Feature a gold font with a black outline or vice versa, emphasising the scale of how much information this magazine provides and the fact there is many celebrities information inside. This would make the magazine look prestige and important. Flava black and darker colours again but also add a vibrancy to emphasise flava maybe a lime green or purple. Down

The genre I have chosen is hip hop. The key features of hip hop music are the beats and lyrics. Certain artists play a massive part in influencing different areas of society in modern life such as; A$AP Rocky, Kanye West, Drake. Different Sub Genres: Alternative Chopped and screwed Trap Hip pop

Horrorcore Psychedelic

So that I could properly choose the sub-genre for my magazine I took a look into the US Hip Hop top 40 chart to see what was popular now; 1. Jay Z Tom Ford 2. August Alsina I Luv This Shit 3. Drake Hold On, Were Going Home 4. J. Cole Crooked Smile 5. Chris Brown Love More 6. Future Honest 7. Jay Z Holy Grail 8. Drake All Me 9. Juicy J Bounce It 10. R. Kelly My Story The sub-genres of these songs are all very different so it didnt give me very clear information on what was the most popular, so I looked at some peoples music librarys on their phones and realised that most people listen to modern hip hop and alternative hip hop.

Articles
I like the idea of a question answer style article, with different colours representing different speakers. However, I also like the paragraphing in certain articles that provide an overview of interviews and other information about the artist and use pull quotes, so for my magazine I will most likely be using a free flow article with paragraphs.
