WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

WE GATHER TO GLORIFY GOD

PRELUDE Suite in D Major Mike Davison, trumpet Ouverture Gigue Air (Menuet) CALL TO WORSHIP (based on Psalm 146) One: Many: One: Luke Woodcock George Frederick Handel, 1685-1759

Many:

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God all my life long. Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. Praise the Lord!

HYMN 85 (Red Hymnal) Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

Joanna

PRAYER OF CONFESSION - IN UNISON (from the Book of Common Worship) Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed; and grant us grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image, through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON GLORIA PATRI 579 (Blue Hymnal) Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen. RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS Jeannette and Arthur Strunk
At this time, children 9 years old and younger are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary with our volunteer leaders. The children and their leaders will worship in the chapel. They will be in "Children's Church" for the remainder of the morning and will meet parents in the social room.

WE RESPOND TO GODS WORD

HYMN 332 (Blue Hymnal) Live Into Hope APOSTLES CREED (IN UNISON) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORDS PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Truro

WE GIVE THANKS TO GOD

Craig Courtney, b. 1965

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say rejoice. Rejoice, ye pure in heart, rejoice, give thanks and sing; your festive banner wave on high, the cross of Christ your King. Rejoice, give thanks and sing. Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say rejoice. Go on through lifes long path, still chanting as ye go; from youth to age, by night and day, in gladness and in woe: Rejoice, give thanks and sing. Based on Philippians 4:4-7
