It is not always easy to nd ones way in a foreign health-care system. To make this task easier, Groupe Mutuel Assurances GMA SA has developed Academic Care, a special insurance coverage for foreign students in Switzerland.
Academic Care provides full coverage, on a level equivalent to compulsory health insurance benets (LAMal/KVG), in case of illness, accident and maternity; it also covers repatriation costs to Switzerland and covers medical assistance abroad. The insurance covers all foreign students during their training or studies in Switzerland and also in case of an emergency during journeys all over the world. You can subscribe to Academic Care any time during your studies until your 29th birthday, as an individual person or by means of a group contract (school institutions, higher schools etc.). Academic Care guarantees the full reimbursement of numerous healthcare services that are subject to a unique annual deductible of CHF 100 or CHF 500.

The Medi24 call centre provides you with free medical advice by phone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: medical advice in case of need or uncertainness advice for taking drugs by your own checking of drug interaction. In case of health problems, the specially trained staff of Medi24 suggests the next therapeutic steps to follow, for example self-medication or consulting a doctor. In any case, the decision about the next steps is up to the patient.
