The city I live in

Dhaka is my city. I live in Dhaka is an old city. It is the capital of Bangladesh. The city of Dhaka stands on the Buriganga. Dhaka is located in central Bangladesh at 2342 !" # 223 !$% on the eastern &anks of the Buriganga 'iver. The city has an area of 2 2 (s). miles or *22 s). kilometers. The city +as founded in the year ,- . &y /u&edar Islam khan during the reign of $mperor 0ahangir. It is other+ise called the city of mos)ues. 1ore than one crore people live in this city. There are many historical esta&lishments in the city. The 2al&agh fort and the 3hsan 1an4il are some of the e5amples. The &eautiful places here are the /angsad Bha&an% the nation 4oo% the national museum% the /ishu 6ark% the 'amna 6ark etc. Dhaka e5periences a hot% +et and humid tropical climate. 3s Dhaka is the most populous city of Bangladesh% it has a vi&rant and versatile cultural life. 7or much of recent history% Dhaka +as characteri4ed &y roadside markets and small shops that sold a +ide variety of goods. The land% the rivers% and the lives of Bangla people formed a richest heritage +ith marked differences from neigh&oring regions lesser developed civili4ations. It has evolved over the centuries and encompasses the cultural diversity of several social groups of Bangladesh.

Weekend 8eekend is something I really look for+ard too. 7rom the other &usy five days of 9niversity% I really get rest and rela5 on +eekends. :n 7riday mornings I am so happy &ecause I +ould have to get up early only for this one day and then sleep to my +ish on +eekends. 1oreover% as a family +e all could spent some time on +eekends. 2ast +eekend +as great for me. /aturday morning% after &reakfast% my 1om announced that +e +ould &e visiting my aunt;s place &ecause my sister gave &irth a &a&y. <urray== I +as happy. /o I did my home+ork;s very fast and completed them. 1y mother +as &usy preparing some food items and I helped her &y looking after my elder sister. By afternoon% +e took our &aths and got ready to leave to my aunt;s house. :ver there% +e had a great time. 1y niece +as also there and +e played a lot. 8hen it +as time to serve lunch% my mom and aunt served lunch and +e all had a great yummy lunch. 3fter lunch%

+e fell asleep. By evening% +e had our tea and gossip +ith my aunt and sister . It +as so much of fun that +e really en>oyed the day. ?etting &ack home% +e +ere tired and slept of early. The +eekend passed off +ith loads of fun and entertainment and I look for+ard to the ne5t +eekend for more fun and entertainment and to rela5 myself from the daily home+ork;s and studies.

Pastime 1an is &orn to +ork. <e needs to +ork to live. But at the same time he cannot +ork continuously. <e needs leisure to &e recharged. <uman &eings cannot &e compared to machines. In order to earn their living% people all over the +orld lead a hectic and &usy life. /o% they need something else &esides their +ork to &e energi4ed. The monotonous +orking hours load their &rains +ith tiredness and stress. That is +hy they need pastimes. It refreshes them% at the same time it gives them a ne+ life. There may &e thousands types of pastimes all over the +orld. 1any pastimes around the +orld are common to people no matter +hat their nationality or race. But some are not. 1y pastime is reading different type of &ooks like adventure% thriller% novel% poem etc. and making delicious foods like cake% roast% pola+% s+eets etc. I also like to +atch television. The types of pastimes may vary from person to person according to their taste and culture. But the reason &ehind leisure is the same. The only reason is to have rela5ation and pleasure.

Best friend I have had many friends in life% many have come and gone% &ut there is one friend that has remained to me loyal through thick and thin. <is name is 3nupom. I met 3nupom in 9niversity during orientation and his personality instantly struck me. <e is outspoken and outgoing% the complete opposite of my character. I am )uite shy and reserved. 3fter orientation surprising enough% I +as allocated not only the same

dormitory as 3nupom &ut also the same cu&icle. Being the outspoken one% "icole introduced hisself and that;s +here our &eautiful friendship &egan. The more time +e spent together the more our friendship gre+. 8e have remained the &est of friends since then and though +e argue and disagree a&out some things% +e al+ays find a solution and our friendship continues to gro+. 3nupom understands me and he can tell +hen I am happy or sad. <e kno+s ho+ to read my moods and al+ays does her &est to cheer me up. Though +e took different career paths after high school% +e remained in contact and shared every little detail a&out our lives. <e understands me like no one else has ever done. Though +e have dissimilar characteristics% +e perfectly complement each other. <e likes fun and all the hype that comes +ith it +hile I prefer a more silent life. <o+ever% this has never &een an issue &et+een us. 8e al+ays find a +ay to en>oy each other;s company +ith our different personalities. :ne thing that I like a&out 3nupom is that she is fle5i&le and she is al+ays ne+ and open to ne+ ideas. Though +e don;t see each other as often as +e used to% +e make sure to keep in touch and normally meet at least t+ice a month to catch up. 3nupom is a friend I +ould never replace@ he is not only my &est friend &ut one of the &est things that have ever happened to me. I can;t imagine ho+ my life +ould &e +ithout him. The friendship +e share is one of a kind and is al+ays thankful I found him.

Aacation COX'S BAZAR B the tourist capital 1iles of golden sands% to+ering cliffs% surfing +aves% rare conch shells% colorful pagodas% Buddhist temples and tri&es% delightful sea food this is Co5Ds Ba4ar% the tourist capital of Bangladesh. <aving the +orldDs longest un&roken E,2 kmF &each sloping gently do+n to the &lue +aters of the Bay of Bengal against the pictures)ue &ackground of a chain of hills covered +ith deep green forests% Co5Ds Ba4ar is one of the most attractive tourist spots in the +orld. The &each is good for &athing% sun &athing and s+imming. The &reath taking &eauty of the sun setting &ehind the +aves of the sea is captivating. 3ttractive local variety of cigars and handloom products of the 'akhyne tri&al families are good &uys. Their uni)ue customs and costumes attract visitors. 2ocated at a distance of ,*2 km. south of Chittagong% Co5Ds Ba4ar is connected &oth &y air and road from Dhaka and Chittagong. 1an is not satisfied +ith +hat he has seen and kno+n. /o as a student% i have a keen interest to kno+ the historical places of my country. During the last autumn vacation% i got an opportunity to visit &agerhat% a great historical place. The important spots of &angerhat are Gthe Tom& of khan >ahan aliH% the 2ake of Gkhan >ahanBaliH% the shatgam&u> mos)ue% and Gthe ghora tankH. The Tom& of khan >ahan ali is a fine one storeyed &uilding +here he +as &uried. :n the night of full moon of the month chaitra% a &ig fair is held &eside the Tom&. The dighi of khan >ahan ali is in front of the Tom&. It is a &ig tank. There are some crocodiles in this &ig tank. I also visited the /i5ty Domed mos)ue. The mos)ue is &eautifully decorated. The ghora Tank is also &ig. It is near the /i5ty Domed mos)ue. Bagerhat is really a place of historical interest. I left &agerhat &ut the memory still haunts my mind.

My Neighborhood! 8e all live in a society and are all &ound to a neigh&orhood. "eigh&orhood is very important and it does definitely have an impact on +hat +e are and ho+ and +here +e live in. 9nless +e are happy in living in a good neigh&orhood% +e could not get to live peacefully. I too live in a great and +onderful neigh&orhood. It is very pleasant and has lot many facilities. 8ith a good park near&y% making it the main attraction% our neigh&orhood also has many other added &onuses. The grocery store is near&y +hich makes it easy for all residents to make an immediate purchase% +e have a &us stop close &y% so that people do not have to travel long for means of transportation. The park is +hat makes it a lot more &eautiful as it is +ell maintained and makes it a gathering place for all my neigh&ors in the evening for chit chatting and playing for kids. There is good air and +e en>oy the evenings +hile +e are at this park. But% like every neigh&orhood% among the good people that make it lively and great% there +ould some odd ones out that +ould spoil the entire fun. /ome people in our neigh&orhood are very careless and untidy. They +ould >ust litter places and thro+ their gar&age >ust like that outside. This is really trou&lesome and causes lot of difficulty to the others in the neigh&orhood. They also &ehave &adly and have &een +arned several times. /uch people spoil the fun and unity in a society and make it a nuisance to everyone surrounding them. 3part from those kinds of negative people% our neigh&orhood is peaceful and all others live in harmony. In case of any kind of emergency to any resident% +e all +ould help each other at the time of need. I have many friends in my neigh&orhood and +e all en>oy playing in the evenings. 8e have cele&rations for every occasions and festivals and this makes it lot more fun and en>oyment for all of us in the neigh&orhood. I like my neigh&orhood and +ould like to make changes in the negative aspects concerning us in the neigh&orhood.
