NSU Pom squad offers dance clinic LaTasha Atcity TNE Writer

NSUs pom squad practices their routine for half time. They want to make sure they can get the crowd excited. NSUs pom squad is offering a dance clinic to help raise money for new uniforms and a trip to OKC for a dance camp. The purpose of the pom clinic is to raise money for new uniforms and dance camp, as well as the enjoyment of teaching young dancers a new routine, said Maggie Homer, McAlester junior. There are seven girls on the squad this year. Each squad member will help teach the children the new dance routine. The clinic will be held February 15. The pom squad and children will due the routine before the womens basketball game. The squad is excited about performing the routine with the children with the kids at the women's basketball game February 15th, said Meighan Clifton, Skiatook junior. When we did the camp last year we all had a blast. It was great getting to know the children. The clinic is open to children through out the community. The dance clinic is an opportunity for them to feel apart of the squad. The clinic is for the participants. They get to know the NSU pom squad, said Leandrea Orr, Tahlequah sophomore. They can feel like they are apart of the RiverHawk pom squad. The participants will learn a jazz/hip hop routine to the song TTYLXOX by Belle

Thorne. My favorite part of the clinic is when the children get to perform the routine for everyone, said Homer. I love this part because it show the hard work the team put into the clinic. It also shows the students hard work in learning the routine. The pom squad is preparing for a big turn out. The clinic is a way to get the community to attend the basketball games. We've been so excited and looking forward to doing the clinic again this year, said Clifton. We hope to have a good turn out of kids at the clinic, and a great turn out of fans at the game.
