Acceptance criteria: No slippage shall occur at or below the specified minimum slip load. Slippage shall have occurred below the maximum slip load, equivalent to 30 percent of the conductor's Ininimum rated strength. The load at which slippage reaches 2 mm shall be recorded for comparison with the sample test results. Clamp bolt tightening type tests shall be undertaken in accordance with the requirements of clause 11.4.5 of lEC 61284. For factory formed armour rods all the rods shall be checked to ensure that they make contact with the conductor over their entire length. 9.6.3
Tension Joints and Clamps

Tensile type tests shall be undertaken with the requirements of clause 11.5.1 of IEC 61284. The specified minimum failing load shall be taken as equivalent to 90 percent of the conductor's minimum rated strength. The 60 percent SMFL holding period T shall be dispensed with i.e. T = O. Acceptance criteria: There shall be no movement of the conductor relative to the fitting due to slip during the holding period of 60 s. No failure or visible distortion of the fitting shall take place when the load is increased to 95 percent of the conductor's minimum rated strength. Prior to the commencement of the test for compression dead ends and mid-spans the performance of the compression dies shall be checked. The tension fitting shall be installed on the conductor strictly in accordance with manufacturer's instructions using the full range of compressors and appropriate die SIzes. Acceptance criteria: The dies shall fully close on each bite and the fitting shall remain straight after compression, with no damage to the jumper terminal flag or weld. For the heat cycle type tests tension joints shall be classified as class A and subject to 500 cycles to a temperature of 125C. Resistance tests shall be undertaken in accordance with the following requirements: The fitting shall be assembled strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions on conductors of the size and type with which it is to be used; 2 3 The electrical resistance shall be measured between points on the conductor on either side and 25 mm clear of the fitting (see Annex J ofIEC 61284 for details of potential points); The test shall be made with direct current, with the current connections not less than 50 times the conductor diameter from the fitting and shall be made so that effective contact is made with all strands of the conductor; The test shall be repeated with the polarity reversed and mean of the two test results taken as the measured value. The digital microhmeter used for the test measurements shall have an accuracy of 0.1 percent;

Acceptance criteria: The electrical resistance of the fitting shall not exceed 75 percent of the measured D.C. resistance of the equivalent conductor length. Where a fitting is composed of several parts, electrically in series, the resistance of each part shall not exceed 75 percent of the equivalent conductor length. 9.6.4
Partial Tension Fittings

Tensile type tests shall be undertaken in accordance with the following requirements:
