Name: Emily Harrison Source(1) York Picturehouse (Secondary) I can use this as a main focus in my article, as it is something quirky and different, and will therefore be a great place to take imagery for, as well as cover as a section in the article. Date located and reference(2) http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/York_Pictu rehouse/ Key Findings City Screen Picturehouse, which opened in January 2000, is built on the riverside site of the Yorkshire Evening Press buildings. The site had been derelict for over a decade and was something of an eyesore in the middle of one of the most historic city centres in the country. City Screen purchased the site and, with assistance from the National Lottery through the Arts Council, redeveloped it for use as a cinema with neighbouring restaurants. Independent cinema, showing new films, as well as Indie film, old classics and cult films. They offer more than the standard cinema. My local cinema! It is so good, with excellent films and a fab cafe with a very eclectic menu. Always buzzing and appealing to all ages, a real social asset to the city of York! This is a delightful place to go to! For art-house cinema it's the only place to go in York, which is no hardship as it's excellent. It appears to have great reviews, which links to its eclectic style, therefore being a great place to check out. York offers a fascinating collection of great sites mixed with an easy-going pedestrian ambience all lassoed within its formidable wall. Its rich history goes back to ancient times when York was a Roman provincial capital.

Trip Advisor (Secondary)

Great little tea room just off the Shambles. Stopped in for a cup of tea and a light lunch. Sandwiches and toasties are really nice, service was great and it wasn't overly expensive Recently paid a visit to this little tea room. Unpretentious good quality food that you would expect from a Yorkshire cafe. Scones were a real hit. Warm and friendly staff. Prices are reasonable considering this is the centre of York. The inkwell is Yorkshire is a 'curiosity shoppe' specialising in records, books and pop-culture gifts. We also do a mean-line in teas & coffee. Because we take our stock seriously, we have taken great care in creating a welcoming, attractive space in which to display it Indie home-wares and fashion boutiques have been presenting their wares in imaginative retail environments for years - there's no reason why record/book shops should aspire to anything less. Our records are a mixture of high-quality reissues, new releases, and carefully selected vintage vinyl. Blues, soul, psychedelia, funk, folk, garage rock, hip-hop, easy-listening, jazz, soundtracks, spoken-word, children's records...if's it's good, we'll stock it.

The Inkwell is one of Yorks newest independent retailers. And, in a word is awesome. Independently run by Paul Lowman So, next time you are in York, head to Gillygate and go pop in through the door of number 10. Say hello, grab some of the mega coffee, buy a book or two and enjoy chatting to a shop owner who is passionate, enthusiastic and massively knowledgeable about his craft. Why do you like York? Its great for vintage, quirky shops, as well as high street stores, and plus on a nice day its beautiful to walk around and simply enjoy the scenery. Would you recommend it to students?
