InitialassessmentofUCASformswillbebasedonacademicabilityandUKCATscore.For mostcandidatestheacademicscorewillbebasedonAlevels(orIB)andGCSEs,particularly inScience,EnglishLanguageandMaths.Onlythebest6GCSEswillbeincluded,asthe numberofGCSEstakenbystudentsmaybelimitedatsomeschoolsandcolleges. Pleasenote: ForcandidateswhohavetakenqualificationsotherthanGCSEs,anassessmentof equivalencewillbemade. ForcandidateswhohavenottakenAlevelsorInternationalBaccalaureate,anassessment ofequivalencewillbemade. AcademicabilityandUKCATwilleachbescoredoutof30. Applicantsofferingotherqualificationswillbeassessedaccordingtotheirachievements, takingintoaccountthegradingsystemsthatareused.Thegreatestcreditwillbegivenfor achievementsatthehighestlevelawarded. 1.3.1 AccesstoMedicine

ManyAccessapplicantsarefromnontraditionaleducationalbackgroundsand,therefore,a standardformatforassessingacademicattainmentisnotappropriateandtheywillbe consideredonanindividualbasis. 1.4 OutcomeofAssessmentofAcademicAbilityandUKCAT
