1)Why does an eccentric contraction offer greater tension

than a concentric contraction
Since fewer motor units are involved during an eccentric
contraction (because of the passive resistance offered by
the cross bridges), there is more mechanical load per
motor unit in an eccentric contraction. As a
result, eccentric training can generate up to 1.3 times
more tension than concentric training
