Introduction
The method described in this European Standard is one of four similar methods for
testing and classifying fabrics intended for curtains and for similar uses such as blinds
and fabric wall paneling, which requires classification.
This method defines a classification system for curtains and draperies using the ease of
ignition and flame propagation characteristics, such as response to contact with the flame
under controlled conditions of vertically oriented textile fabrics.
This classification system is based on the assessment of ease of ignition and flame
propagation using two different sources of ignition and heat intensity.
1 Scope
This European Standard specifies a classification system for burning behavior of
vertically oriented textile fabrics intended for curtains and for similar uses such as blinds
and fabric wall paneling, which requires classification. Untested materials are classified.
