We, the undersigned U-M faculty members (professors, lecturers, graduate student instructors), wish to express our support

for the student organization SAFE and its 30+ allies under the umbrella of #UMDivest in their call for U-M asset managers to review investments by U-M in multi-national corporations that violate the human rights of Palestinians. We are disappointed by the decision of Central Student Government to refuse to allow debate on the topic given the strong showing of support evidenced by student participation, and believe that there is great value to our community in students investigating how U-M invests its money and protesting where appropriate. The #UMDIVEST SIT-IN, which has functioned in accordance with U-M policies, is a legitimate form of student protest, and their "Call for Accountability" is justified.
