1.4 1.4.1

Purchasers Data Sheets and Specifications Purchaser will provide the data sheets which contain the basic process data and specific requirements necessary for the basic and detailed design of each mechanical agitators. The related Engineering Specification to supplement this specification is as follows: GD-202 Inspection & Tests of Mechanical Agitators

1.4.2

1.4.3

Where requirements on Purchasers data sheets or specifications are not acceptable by Vendor, suggested alternatives shall be promptly referred to Purchaser for approval before proceeding the work. Vendors Drawings and Documents Vendor shall submit to Purchaser the drawings and documents as called for on Purchasers requisition sheets. Purchasers approval for such drawings and documents shall not relieve Vendor of his responsibility to meet all requirements of the purchase order. All drawings and documents shall give the name of Client (end user), Purchasers Job No., Item No., and the name of the commodity. 2. 2.1 2.1.1

BASIC DESIGN General Mechanical agitators and auxiliaries shall be suitable for out-door unsheltered installation, unless otherwise specified. All exposed rotating parts shall be covered with guards for personnel protection. Motors shall have horsepower ratings at least equal to the agitator design point brake horsepower including all the transmissions losses. Gear horsepower ratings shall be at least equal to driver ratings. Vendor shall guarantee the horsepower requirements for operation at specified speed when mixing a fluid or fluids of the specified specific gravity. Assembly and Disassembly Replacement of bearings, shaft sealing devices, gear unit, and driver shall be possible without dismantling other major parts of the unit, and without emptying or depressurizing the vessel. Component parts shall be designed to insure accuracy of realignment during reassembly. Bearings Oil lubricated bearings shall be equipped with constant level oilers and a threaded oil filling connection. Large oil sumps may be fitted with an oil level gauge. Sleeve bearings shall be renewable insert type. In the case of pressure lubrication type, the furnished system shall include the reservoir, pump, cooler, strainer, and necessary controls and instruments. Antifriction bearing shall be of standard type and selected to give 3-year (25 000 hr) rating life. Peak-to-peak vibration measured on bearing housing shall be less than 50 microns. Shafts, Shaft Sleeves and Mixing Element Shaft and shaft sleeves shall be finished at the bearing and seal surfaces. Shaft sleeves shall be locked to the shaft and sealed at one end. The end of the shaft-sleeve shall extend beyond the outer face of the packing gland, so that any leakage between the shaft and the sleeve cannot become confused with leakage through stuffing box packing. Shaft Sealing and Lubrication External lubrication shall be provided for the shaft seal if specified on the data sheet. Lubrication facilities or devices shall be automatic, and shall have a lubrication capacity for a minimum of one week without refilling.
