Ice breaking activities Activity 1 (Participant) Name of activity: Numbers matters.

Duration: 60 minutes Materials: Paper and pencil, 8 picture puzzles of animals (9 piece puzzle) Procedure: 1. Facilitators distribute 8 different picture puzzles (animals) in pieces of 9. 2. Participants are to solve the puzzle according to the picture given to them by communicating around and form a group. 3. Participants are required to remember the names of each group members. 4. A piece of blank paper is then distributed to each participant. 5. The paper is then divided into 6 sections. 6. With each section, the paper is then filled with personal details as follow; - name - date of birth - favorite hobby - favorite food - favorite color - ambition 7. Each of the group members then will have to introduce themselves according to the details that they have written. 8. At random, 2 persons will be picked from each group to tell about their group members by having 2 personal details obtained from their group members. 9. Groups have to come up with a cheer with an allocation of 5 minutes. 10. 8 different color of cloth strips will be given to the 8 groups with a color each. 11. If a large amount of time is available, a game will be played by participants. 12. The game is to have students use a piece of paper to let it go through 2 persons at a time. 13. The first group to successfully complete the task will do their cheer.

Activity 2 (Facilitators) Name of activity: Humpy Dumpty rescue and recycle bag fashion. Duration: 40 minutes Materials: Eggs, old newspapers, tape, straw, recycle bags (black plastics bags) Procedure: Humpty Dumpty rescue. 1. Participants are divided into groups of 4-6. 2. Each group is then provided with an egg, newspapers, tape, 4 straws and a plastic bag. 3. An amount of 15-20 minutes is given to the participants to come up with designs on how to avoid the egg from breaking from a free fall. 4. At the end, each group is to present their rescue design. 5. Their design is then put to the test. Recycle bag fashion. (back-up activity) or done simultaneously. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. The groups are maintained with the same members. 2 pieces of recycling bags are then given to the groups. They are then assigned to create designer clothing using the recycling bags. The amount of time allocated is 20-30 minutes. After the amount of time allocated ends, each group has to present their design and explain their choice of design and its features.
