Jazz Winnipeg is a non-profit organization that organizes the annual TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival and several other year-round concerts and performance series. Last years festival attracted approximately 40,000 guests to Winnipegs downtown over a ten-day period. Jazz Winnipeg Inc. has three full-time staff. The Festival could not operate without the support of its 300 volunteers. This years festival will run June 12-21, 2014 in concert, theatre and outdoor venues in the Exchange District and Downtown Winnipeg. We are proud to work, play, and eat in the downtown area, and we are asking Canad Inns to support our Official Volunteer Program for the 2014 TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival. As producers of the annual jazz festival, as well as concerts and workshops throughout the year, Jazz Winnipeg is a vibrant and essential organization, dedicated to the enrichment of Winnipegs cultural community.

A distinctly urban experience, the festival brings energy and activity to Winnipegs Exchange District. For ten days each June, more than 40,000 music fans fill the heart of the city to enjoy exceptional live music and the unique character of Winnipegs Downtown. This year, were producing our 25th festival - the largest downtown music event in Winnipeg Concerts are held in large theaters, intimate clubs, and hugely popular outdoor venues. From the biggest names in jazz, blues, and soul to fantastic, emerging local, national, and international talent, the festival is an exciting and diverse musical experience, and an influential part of the local, national and international scenes. This years festival runs June 12-24, 2014.

OUR VOLUNTEERS Our Volunteers

Our 300 volunteers are the reason the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival is celebrating its 25th year this year. Jazz Winnipeg Inc. has three full-time, permanent staff members. The TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival could not run without its volunteers. Handing over the responsibility of planning a festival of this stature is something we could not do without a supportive, reliable, and passionate group of volunteers. Some have been with us since the very beginning, 25 years ago, taking on a diverse array of tasks from feeding all of our out-of-town artists, to making 6:00 a.m. airport runs, to helping build the festivals outdoor site. Our volunteers are music fans and festival goers. They support this festival because they want to share their love for jazz, contemporary, roots, and blues music with the Festival and its supporters. They want to be a part of something that matters to them, and help to create a positive experience for the fans. Our volunteer roles include: serving drinks at the beer garden, assisting guests as ushers, selling tickets at the box office, supervising crowds as event safety, supporting artists and crew as festival set-up and staging crew, feeding performers in the hospitality tent, taking photographs, selling raffle tickets, transporting artists and equipment to and from the airport, maintaining the cleanliness of our venues as the enviro crew, promoting the festival on the street team, conducting surveys throughout the festival, and office and administration work. We have a clean, safe, well-maintained, respected, well-promoted, re-occurring festival because of our volunteers. We ask them to volunteer their time, their commitment, their energy and their skills. Last year our volunteers completed over 6,000 hours during the festival. We continue to grow as a community, because year after year, our faithful volunteers return to support the Festival. To help show our volunteer how much they matter to us, to the fans, and to the Festival, we need your support.

OUR PARTNERSHIP Our Partnership

Canad Inns believes in giving back to its local communities. The TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival volunteers are the Festivals community. This year, we will invite over 40,000 people to the Exchange District and Downtown Winnipeg to attend a variety of concerts, artist workshops, and labs in well-known concert, theater, and outdoor venues in the areas. We would not be able to provide a positive festival experience without our volunteers. We encourage our guests to spend their days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends in Downtown Winnipeg because we believe our Festival helps people come together to celebrate the Exchange District. This exclusive sponsorship will offer Canad Inns primary visibility on all volunteer materials, including t-shirts, and any other print materials that mention or support our volunteers. With over 300 volunteers, logo placement on their t-shirts will act as a form of mobile advertising for the duration of the festival. Last years festival attracted approximately 40,000 guests. The majority of the guests were between the ages of 50-64, with guests aged 25-34 and 35-49 making up the second largest group. 58% of festival attendees were female, 42% male. Most were married, and most have a university degree or some college or university education. We were able to reach those audiences using a variety of media. We ran advertisements on campus radio, CBC Radio Manitoba and Virgin Radio; we ran outdoor advertisements, and ran print advertisements in the Winnipeg Free Press. We also offer visibility through the Festivals program, website, social media platforms, e-newsletter, and posters. Canad Inns Destination Centres offer superior service, quality and experience in its hotels, rooms, restaurants and nightclubs. We want to share that experience with our festival-goers and volunteers. Our festival hosts out-of-town guests, fans, performers and volunteers. Canad Inns Destination Centre Polo Park is located less than 15 minutes away from the Exchange District. We are the largest downtown music event in Winnipeg and we want Canad Inns to be a part of our community. For 10 days, we create a safe, fun, happy, musical Exchange District. The TD International Winnipeg Jazz Festival is special to us because we live, stay, work, and play here. Join us!
