Reflection I actually enjoyed doing these observations once I understood exactly what I was supposed to be doing. I appreciated the fact that we got to choose what we observed since it involved watching that figured world at three separate intervals and then writing about it in great detail. As far as strengths go, I have to say the way that it somewhat ties in with my weaknesses. At the beginning of the assignment I didnt use as much detail as I should have, for example when talking about my discourse communities I didnt go into detail about how they interact or their means of communication. This weakness was partly because I was still trying to understand exactly what to do for the assignment and partly for the fact that since I have seen my figured world I am able to imagine and understand what I am speaking upon. But I learned after the peer workshop that you have to use even more detail because you are sharing your observation with someone who has never seen you figured world. After having that brought to my attention, giving detail became a strength for me. I feel that I elaborated on key scenes and characters. Another strength of mine would be my definitions of the terms assigned for the observations; figured world, discourse community, actor, artifact, and literacy practice. I believe that I put them in simple enough terms that the reader can easily understand. My weakness with this however was thinking of artifacts and understanding that artifacts arent always tangible, they are things that enable actors to perform certain tasks. After grasping this concept I was able to come up with many artifacts. The peer workshop was wonderful. My partners helped point out a lot of things in my paper that could be elaborated on or added to in order to improve my paper as a whole. By them asking questions such as, Are there more artifacts?, Are there more ways of communicating?, and Do Bellas parents play a significant role?, helped me to see where I needed to explain more in my observations and where I needed to had more information. Also what really helped me as I went through revising my paper was remembering what Daniel had said to me in our group. He told me that the paper was really good but to remember that he has never seen this so he cant visualize like Im visualizing, I have to explain it in a way where he can see and understand what is going on. So as I went through revising I tried to add enough detail so that people who have never observed my figured world can still visualize what it happening. None of the feedback that I received from my group was unhelpful. Everything that they told me I kept in mind as I went back through my paper. I really enjoy my peer workshop group. On top of doing what was required I tried to go over and above by adding a little more to the required observations. Before observation one and observation three, I did a background summarization so that my audience can understand what has occurred, giving them a better understanding of what is going on in the observation as well as why it is occurring. Also along with my actors I embedded a photo so that the reader can see what the actors look like. It is always easier for me to visualize events when I know what the actors involved in the event look like. For delivery scene, since that is such an important scene to the movie, I put a link at the end of the observation so that the reader can see for themselves exactly what happened. The video helps me to explain since there was so much detail in that one scene. You really have to watch that clip for yourself to really be able to imagine it. At the end of my third observation, I just couldnt see myself leaving my audience hanging, I had to tell them about the fighting scene.

However, if I were to explain the fight in great detail it wouldve been a fourth observation, so what I did was summarize the fight and place a link so that the reader could watch the scene for him/herself. Lastly, with my interview questions, I didnt just select one actor to interview, I chose to interview each of the actors in my figured world who played a major role. I tried to ask plenty of questions that when answered give the audience an inside look at to why things were the way they were between the actors within the observation such as; Tell us Bella about the ongoing strife between your now husband, Edward, and your best friend, Jacob?, So Jacob, give us the inside scoop on your continual love for Bella?, You dont care for Edward at all Jacob. Why is that? I even asked an audience who has seen the Twilight series a question at the end about how they felt after the fighting scene in order to show the reader that the fight never really happened.
