East Asia Early Next week: New Zealand Porirua city councillor Litea Ah Hoi will visit North Korea through the Korea-New Zealand Friendship. Oct. 1: South Korea's parliamentary speaker, Rep. Park Hee-tae, continues eight-day trip to Malaysia and Laos for discussions on economic cooperation. Oct. 1: Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, ends official visit to the Netherlands. Oct. 1: The Chinese National Day begins. Oct. 1: Indonesia will levy a maximum tax of 10 percent on refined, bleached and deodorized palm oil.

Oct. 3: The US Senate will move forward with a bill to punish China over its alleged currency manipulation. Oct. 3: Belgian Foreign Minister Steven Vanackere will visit Seoul to discuss boosting bilateral trade, and other regional and global issues.
