Environment for Learning in Class By Zaheersbs@gmail.

com The positive leaning environment for teaching and constraints which hinders creation of challenging learning environment reminds me Matilda one of the best children books written by Roald Dahl. Miss Honey was young, pretty, intelligent teacher in the novel who adored by
every small child under her care. She has strong opposition from the school's hostile

headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, who believed and executes abusive physical punishment for every problem of the pupils. She does not allow teachers to create a conducive learning environment yet Miss Honey created great learning environment in her class secretly that her every pupil love to learn. Though it was a fictional story but it can be implied to the real life teacher. The class climate in the secret classes of Miss Honey was similar to which had been taught us in every lecture of this course. Furthermore, no other constraints can be so powerful as Miss Honey experienced to create a positive learning.

Regarding class environment, first few lectures are very important for an instructor to set a tone of the class. Teachers centered class rooms no longer can exist and research proved that they are not useful either. I will prefer a student center class room where they are actively involved not only with the subject matter but also with their classmates and their teachers. To control the environment of the class, I will devise the rules of the class with the help of students. The students will be given the responsibilities as group leaders and teacher assistants. Group leaders and teachers assistants will help in class control and learning of the students who need special attention. I will consistently follow the rules set up by me and the class. Nobody will be superior to those rules and everybody will be treated equally and fairly. I will avoid shouting on the students but make sure that they realize their mistake. I agree with the notion given in one slide of our course as Master, if you do not punish us, we will not behave and we will not learn (in Swaffield and MacBeath, 2010), therefore I will impose punishment for wrong doers which will hurt the selfrespect of the student and rewards will be offered to students who behave well. The students give special weightage to a knowledgeable teacher, I will study the latest discoveries and progress in my field of study and explain it to the teacher. According to one statement in our course

Children do what we do, not what we tell them to do I will set example of character for students to follow and apologize them if I will commit a mistake. All the pupils can never be equal. Some learns very quickly but other feel great difficulties to grasp the tiny concepts. Some are visual learners and other are auditory learners. They belong from different cultural and linguistic back ground and need attention in different ways. I will keep these individual differences in mind and help to learn all kind of pupils. Although large number of students in the class is problem but I will divide them into groups and appoint group leaders and teacher assistants who will help to achieve the objectives of the class. One very good teaching strategy is calling students name, in this way teacher is greatly connected to his students. Students feel that their teacher think them individual and they are more involved in the class. I will learn their name in first few session, whenever some student participate in the class, I will ask ones name and make note regarding him/her to remember the name of the student. I will encourage students to learn the name of other pupils in the class. I will use variety of the teaching strategies so that students dont feel that their class room is static and get bored. Group discussion will be encouraged, there will frequent change in class room arrangements, students will play the roles and present their works individually and in the groups. I will explain my students frequently that what I expect from them. I will try to develop personal relation with the students regarding my subject so they will pay more attention during the lecture. Class participation is great virtue for the learning of the students. I will encourage students to participate in the class. I will never discourage somebody who will contribute in the class and never let other students to do so. Safe class participation environments encourage students to participate in the class and hence learn more. At the end I will like to say, positive class room environment is very important for learning of the pupils and for conveying knowledge for instructor and discipline, regularity in action, kindness and encouragement are very to set a good class room.
