Executive Summary
FIRE Place is a resource at the Sindecuse Health Center on Western Michigan Universitys campus. The support center is a resource for students and faculty that addresses sexual harassment, assault, and other bias incidents. This is a safe place for students to go for help, peer support, and education on the topic. The issue that we are addressing is that not enough Western Michigan students know about this resource. When we surveyed a small amount of Western students, we found that over 50% had not heard about FIRE Place and did not know what it was. A study from Sarah Lawrence College showed that 1 in 4 women are the victim of sexual assault during their academic career. With a statistic that high, this resource that is offered needs to be known by our students. We have created a plan to spread the word of the potential that FIRE place has to help many people. Our target audiences are Western Michigan students and faculty, WMU health classes, WMU orientation programs, and WMU Greek life. The students we surveyed that did know about FIRE Place had all heard about it through their First Year Experience class. We want the information in many more places to increase the audience. The goal of FIREPlace is to help students in need and we want them to reach as many students as possible in order to make their cause more known and used by those who may need it or want to help. There are a few main issues that we are going to address. The first is funding. Funding is critical to sustain an effective rape crisis center and provide comprehensive services to survivors. FIREPlace needs to have more fundraisers in order to have the financial stability to reach its full potential. This is always an issue for nonprofit/ student organizations and difficult to fix, but there are measures that can be taken to help. The next issue is social media. A study done by ProCon.org on Social Media showed that over 47% of people in the US get their information about events, businesses, and daily activities from social media today. Also over 50% of social media users are ages 18-35, the ages of our students at WMU. With the overwhelming amount of time students spend on social media, this is an important way to get the attention of our audience (and it is FREE!). When looking for a FIREPlace Facebook and Twitter page, nothing came up. We could not find any form of social media page for the organization. This is an easy fix and should be addressed immediately. The last issue is events and advertising. Many people attend campus events, such as Bronco Bash, but have never heard of FIREPlace. With a booth that can be remembered and monthly emails/brochures/ flyers with information, more students will realize they have this amazing resource. Our goal, by the end of the next school year, is to raise up to $560 for the FIREPlace office. We will also increase the number of students that know about FIREPlace by 25% by May of 2015. The Facebook page will be shared and raised to 200 likes and the Twitter account will increase to 200 followers. Also, 100% of Health classes and orientations will provide information about FIREPlace to their students. We have come up with a strategy to solve this problem. We will host a fundraiser at Pinz 1.

Bowling Alley for WMU students to attend. The bowling alley allows organizations to host event nights free of charge. People that attend the bowling alley that night will receive unlimited bowling for $13 dollars and $7 from each person goes toward the organization. If 80 people attend this event, that will raise $560 for FIRE Place. In order to spread the word about this event, we will pass out flyers at summer orientations, Bronco Bash, to sororities and fraternities, and in buildings around campus. There will be a Facebook and Twitter page made for FIRE Place. By sharing the page and advertising it on the flyers and brochures printed we will gain likes and followers. We will have a booth at Bronco Bash with games to attract students, a volunteer signup sheet, and prizes to take with them and leave them remembering FIREPlace. Contacting all of the health class professors and giving them the information about FIRE Place and the internship opportunities for students will assure that more than just FYE classes will get the information they need. We will have 1000 brochures printed, in addition to the ones already available, to leave at the front desk of the Rec center, Sindecuse, and the Bernhard that explain internship and volunteer opportunities. With better advertising, taking advantage of social media, and fundraising, we hope to succeed in making FIREPlace more known to the students that need it now or may need it in the future.

Evaluation
Bronco Bash The goal is to hand out 400 flyers at the event to invite people to the fundraiser at Pinz Bowling. Included at the booth will be small candles, brochures about Fireplace, and candy as prizes for students who play the trivia game. A trivia game will help educate roughly 10,000 students who attend Bronco Bash yearly, and whove never heard of th e organization before.

PINZ fundraiser The fundraiser that will be held on September 30th and will help benefit students to get more acquainted with FIRE place. The first 25 people who attend PINZ will get a free tshirt. The expectation is to have 80+ students attend for it to be a success. The fundraiser will be held on a college night and it will cost $13 for unlimited bowling.

Survey The survey is designed to see if students know about the Fireplace program. The expectation for the survey is for 50-100 students to take the survey and use their knowledge to answer the questions with honesty. The survey will run for one week on Survey Monkey. If the survey fails to reach our estimated number of students we will create a new survey immediately following Bronco Bash event for two weeks to see if students took flyers from the booth or played the trivia game and learned something about Fire Place.

Social Media Fireplace should stress the importance of social media by providing a new Facebook and Twitter page for their organization. The goal is to reach well over 100 followers (post Bronco Bash) by posting videos, pictures, and updates on information about the program three times a week, by a volunteer in the intern program (this task can be rotated by different students).

Freshman Orientation By handing out flyers and doing a brief overview to new students about the program it will help make students comfortable and knowledgeable about the campus they are attending.

8.

Brochures There will be over 300 brochures about Fireplace in the Sindecuse Health Center (the one we created) to replace the ones that are currently there. Thousands of students walk in and out of this building daily, and these brochures will be free for all students to take with them. Monthly emails There will be monthly emails for students who qualify for the internship program that Fireplace offers. Emails will be sent out once every 2 months along with contact information, links to the website and social media pages and a deadline for when to sign up for the internship. Students who want to sign up for the internship can get information from the Bronco Bash booth, the brochures in Sindecuse , Fire Places Facebook and twitter accounts and their website (through contact information). Students who sign up for the internship will receive credit for it and it has to be approved by a professor so they can go through the proper training that Fire Place will provide.
