Evaluation of the Waterflood The original aim of the project was to obtain 40% oil recovery by water flooding.

There were initially three producer wells and one injector well placed in the reservoir. However, an unexpected ceiling fault was found during the operation. Therefore, the original plan to sweep the fluid in reservoir with one injector well is flopped. As consultants to the particular project, we recommend the following actions. The injector well-27 is only connected to the well-29. So, the immediate action is to cut down injection water fluid to 10,000 BPD from 20,000 BPD. Well-29 is producing at a rate of 10,000 BPD, which will continue to the optimum cumulative production, or it reaches economic limit. An impermeable shale break zone is located at layers k=8 and k=9. So, we will close the perforations that are located at k=10. For all the future injection well, we account for the perforation only in first nine vertical layers. We decided that we had to add an injector to maximize the oil production from well 30. There is a fault running vertically just to the right of this well between I=8 and I=11. Additionally, there is a second fault running horizontally between J=17 and J=20. These two faults isolate the production of well 30 from the rest of the producers and injectors located within this reservoir. This allows you to easily determine how placing injectors in different locations changes the total volume of oil produced. After placing injectors in various locations to the north and south of production well 30, we determined that all these locations provide a small increase in production, when compared to locations to the south of the well. Moreover, we determined that it is more beneficial to place the injector wells farther away from well 30, rather than placing it very close. We ultimately determined the ideal location to place the injector well that is designated as J=18 and I=10. By placing the injector in this location, the injected water is capable of impacting both the western and southern sides of the well. We added the following wells after the successful simulation results. Injectors 1) Well-29N Location: I=13,J=1 2) Well-30S Fluid Injection rate: 10000 BPD Open Perf: 1 to 9. Open Perf: 1 to 9.
