P: TW use Blackboard Kagan Strategy to encourage S to share their most favorite modes of transportation. Prompt: What is your favorite mode of transportation? 1. TW model the writing process, starting with the bubble Map. 2. SW sit on the carpet facing the SMARTboard as T projects a sample bubble map onto the SMARTboard. 3. TW have S help fill out the sample bubble map by asking different questions as to what should go in the bubbles. 4. TW tell S that the middle of the bubble map will be "My favorite mode of transportation is_______." 5. TW ask S what their favorite modes of transportation are and SW share why they love that form of transportation. 6. TW write in "Car" in the blank of sample bubble map. 7. TW ask S to give examples of what we can write in our bubbles, using the example of what games we might play when we are traveling. 8. TW write "Games" in the first bubble. 9. TW ask S what kind of games they might play in their cars - sample answers may include "I,spy, patty cake, Silent Game, and Billboard Game." 10. TW write some of the sample answers on the lines next to the "Games" bubble. 11. TW then ask S what else we might be able to think about when we think about cars. 12. TW select a few students to share their answers that may include "Where and Who is there" each that can have two bubbles each. 13. TW write in "Where" in the following two bubbles. 14. TW ask S to give examples of "Where" they might be going if they were traveling in a car. 15. TW call on S to share their ideas that may include "store, school, library, park, Boys and Girls Club, dance class." 16. TW explain to S that when T travels in a car, she goes to the store, school, work, the park and the lake.

17. TW write her examples on the lines next to the bubbles labeled "Where." 18. TW use the S' example of "Who" and write "Who" in the two bubbles after that. 19. TW ask S to share "Who" might be with them when they are in a car. 20. SW share their ideas on "Who" would be with them that may include "Mom, sister, brother, Papa, cousins." 21. TW share with the S that when she travels in her car, she is with her kids, husband, sisters, niece, nephew, and mom. 22. TW write in her examples next to the bubbles that are labeled "Who." 23. TW ask S to give ideas on what else we might do on car rides besides playing games and a S may answer "Eat snacks!" 24. TW fill in the remaining bubble with "Food." 25. TW ask, "What kind of food do we eat when we are on car rides or maybe a road trip going out of state?" 26. TW call on S to share their answers on what food they might eat when they are on car rides and examples may include "french fries, ice cream, poptarts, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches." 27. TW share with the class that when T goes on car rides, her kids eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit and T eat peanuts. 28. TW write her examples on the lines next to the bubble that is labeled "Food." 29. TW have a separate bubble map that only has the bubbles filled in and project that through the ELMO. 30. TW instruct S that they need to copy down the words in the bubbles, but then, come up with their own favorite mode of transportation and come up with ideas to put on the lines next to the bubbles. 31. TW call S back to their seats to get started on their bubble maps. 32. TW instruct S to complete their bubble maps independently. 33. TW pull small writing groups to help students construct ideas and sentences.
