Come Join Room 2B as we celebrate finishing our Class
Cookbooks by having a
Class Feast!
Come and enjoy some delicious food and get to know the
students and the parents of Room 2B

This month your students have been working hard on a family recipe
to put into the class cookbook. Now that we have finished, we want
to sample all the tasty dishes we have been reading about! If you
are able, please bring a serving of the recipe your child contributed
to the Class Cookbook so Room 2B students and parents can taste
test it!

Procedure for Class Feast:
1. After creating the class cookbook, send a flyer home to
parents inviting them to bring their dish into the
classroom for the whole class to try one evening during
the school week.
2. Have each student (or their families) fill out a card with
information about their dish for the feast. (Include a
spot for allergy notifications!)
3. Encourage students to bring in something that is
significant to their familys culture, to wear traditional
clothing, bring flags, etc.
4. Create decorations by creating globes out of paper
lanterns to hand from the ceiling.
5. Place the information cards next to each dish so
parents and students know what theyre eating.

1. Student cookbooks to distribute

4. Plastic forks, knives, spoons

6. Water and/or lemonade
7. Plastic/Styrofoam cups

Come Join Room 2B as we get explore some science fun at
Science Night
Come walk around the classroom as volunteers do
awesome science experiments! See glowing worms, make
crackling goop, and learn a little science!

This month is known for its spook-tacular holiday, but Room 2B is
making it a mad-scientist month! The classroom will be set up into
different stations where students and their families are invited to
explore science. Each person who comes will get their name put into
a drawing for their own pair of safety goggles. There will also be
some snacks and refreshmants.

Procedure for Science Night:
1. Decide on six or seven science centers
2. Line up volunteers to run the science centers
(volunteers could be high school students)
3. Send out flyers
4. Organize supplies for each center
5. Set up snack and refreshment center

Come Join Room 2B as we put on our very own
Vocabulary
Parade!
Watch as students dress up as their vocabulary. Listen as they tell you
all the new words they are learning, and what they mean.

With the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade right around the corner, the students
thought it would be fun to put on our own parade! They have all been given a
word and have been hard at work making a costume to show what their word
means. Come join us as we parade around the halls, stopping to explain what
our word is, what it means, and how it is used. Snacks and refreshments will be
provided!

Procedure for Vocabulary Parade:
1. In the weeks leading up to the parade, assign students
a new vocabulary word.
2. Give them time to create a poster that says the
definition of the word.
3. Help students come up with an easy costume to show
what their word means.
4. Have students practice their definition in front of the
class.
5. On the night of, have students meet you in the
classroom to put on their costumes and definitions.
6. Lead students out to parade in the auditorium and tell
the parade goers the definition of their word.

Come Join Room 2B as we warm up with hot chocolate,
smores, and crafts!
Hot Chocolate with Family
Night
Come join us for a night filled with hot chocolate, smores
and winter crafts! We will be making snowflakes and
snowmen to celebrate the winter weather all while sipping
on hot cocoa.

With winter holidays approaching, it is always nice to have a time to
sit with family and relax. Miss Cleveland will be providing some tasty
treats for you and child to enjoy while getting crafty for the winter
season!

Procedure for Hot Chocolate with Family Night:
1. Decide on two or three snowflake/snowman type
crafts. (Remember that not all families celebrate
holidays like Christmas, so general winter themed crafts
are best.)
2. Gather supplies for crafts
3. Send out flyers
4. Find one or two volunteers to help make Hot chocolate
and smores
5. The night of have craft supplies spread out with step by
step directions for the crafts (picture directions are
great too!)
6. Serve parents and students hot chocolate and smores

Family Game Night!
Come and enjoy some fun games such as Catch Phrase,
Chutes and Ladders, Hi-Ho Cherry-Oh, and more!

Sometimes winter can seem long, but we want to have fun inside!
Join us in the classroom for a night filled with game playing fun. Bring
your family favorite, or come explore some of Miss Clevelands
favorites. Snacks and beverages will be provided!

Student Art
Exhibition
Come walk around the classroom and see artwork on
display made by the students.

So far this year our class has made some pretty amazing artwork. Its
time to show off our students creative abilities with an art show!
Student artwork will be on display for parents to come look at and

personal writing with

Appreciation
Come and listen to the students of Room 2B read their
favorite published piece to classmates, friends, and family.

This month is reading month and what better to read than some of
our favorite authors! Each student will be reading one of their
favorite published pieces while sitting in the authors chair. Snacks
and refreshments will be provided!

Procedure for Author Appreciation:
1. Have students select their favorite published piece from
that years writers workshop.
2. Send out Flyers.
3. Set up the classroom so that parents can sit in a chair
and face the authors chair.
4. Set up snack and refreshment table.
5. Have students read their piece one at a time.

Poetry Caf
Come enjoy some smooth jazz music while listening to your
favorite poet read some of their latest poetry!

This month is poetry month, and the students have been working
hard writing poems. We would like to share our hard work with the
community and are inviting you to come and listen as we read
aloud our poems! Snacks and refreshments will be provided!

1. Have students pick their favorite poem

3. Set up Caf in the classroom
4. Create stage-like area
5. Set up chairs around desks so that they look like little
caf tables
6. Play smooth jazz music in the background

Come Join Room 2B as we have fun at
Family-Student-
Faculty Sport Event
Come participate in some fun outdoor activities (weather
permitting) as parents and teachers team up with students
for some sport-tacular fun!

The weather is getting nicer and the days are getting longer, its time
to go outside and play! Different activities include jump rope, four
squares, PIG, and other fun playground games that our students play
every day and are ready to show their family how it is done!
Refreshments will be provided!

2. Prepare playground with necessary playground
equipment (i.e. jump ropes, basket balls, four square
ball, etc.)
3. Set up refreshments
