Egmidio Alvarez Enriquez was born in Zamboanga City. A fictionist and playwright, he holds an MA degree in Creative Writing from the State University of Iowa. His first published novel The Devil Flower- reprinted by the DLSU Press in 1999- earned for him the John Simmon Guggenheim Fellowship in New York. His other works include his three-act plays in Mindanao, Kudarat and Urduja and his latest novels The Fourth of July, Twice Told, Where the Monkeys Have no Tails
