The Call to Worship

~ based on Psalm 84 ~

Leader: Show us Your steadfast love, O
God, and grant us Your salvation.

Unison: How lovely is Your dwelling
place, O Lord Almighty! Our souls
long, yes, faint for the courts of the
Lord. Our hearts and our flesh will sing
for joy to the living God, for a single
day in Your courts is better than a
thousand anywhere else.

Leader: For the Lord God is our Light
and our Shield; the Lord bestows favour
and honour. No good thing does He
with-hold from those who walk
uprightly.

Unison: O Lord Almighty, blessed are
those who trust in You!

Prayer of Adoration

Songs of Praise & Worship

How Great You Are

Our God is great
The Father of creation
His splendour fills the earth
The lightning crash
The thunder sings His praises
The galaxies cant help but shout His
worth

chorus
My soul must sing to You an offering
How great You are
My soul must sing
Oh, let the heavens ring
How great You are
Oh, how great You are

The Word made flesh
Gods promise to the fallen
He came with powr to save
The light of life
Was crushed for our rebellion
He died our death
And rose up from the grave

Our King will come
With trumpet blasts resounding
To claim His blood-washed bride
Hell rend the skies
Descending in His glory
And in an instant faith will turn to sight

Rejoice, the Lord is King

Rejoice, the Lord is King:
Your Lord and King adore
Rejoice, give thanks, and sing
And triumph evermore
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice

Jesus, the Saviour reigns
The God of truth and love
When He had purged our stains
He took His seat above
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice

His kingdom cannot fail
He rules oer earth and heavn
The keys of death and hell
Are to our Jesus givn
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice

Rejoice in glorious hope!
Our Lord, the Judge, shall come
And take His servants up
To their eternal home
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice

O Great God

O great God of highest heaven
Occupy my lowly heart
Own it all and reign supreme
Conquer every rebel power
Let no vice nor sin remain
That resists Your holy war
You have loved and purchased me
Make me Yours forevermore

I was blinded by my sin
Had no ears to hear Your voice
Did not know Your love within
Had no taste for heaven's joys
Then Your Spirit gave me life
Opened up Your Word to me
Through the gospel of Your Son
Gave me endless hope and peace

Help me now to live a life
That's dependent on Your grace
Keep my heart and guard my soul
From the evils that I face
You are worthy to be praised
With my every thought and deed
O great God of highest heaven
Glorify Your Name through me
Call to Repentance & Renewal

~ based on Psalm 32 (NLT) ~

Leader: Listen to the testimony of the
psalmist:

When I refused to confess my sin, my
body wasted away, and I groaned all day
long. Day and night Your hand of
discipline was heavy on me. My strength
evaporated like water in the summer
heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to
You and stopped trying to hide my guilt.
I said to myself, I will confess my
rebellion to the Lord. And You forgave
me! All my guilt is gone.

Prayer of Confession

~ Silent Confession and Reflection ~

The Words of The Gospel

~ based on Psalm 145:14; 1 John 1:8-9 ~

Leader: Hear the Good News: The Lord
upholds all who are falling, and raises up
all who are bowed down. If we say we
have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and
the truth is not in us. If we confess our
sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
Hearing these comforting words, if you
sincerely turn from your sins by turning
in trust to the Lord Jesus Christ who
came to save sinners, I declare to you in
the Name of Jesus Christ that you are
indeed forgiven!

Song of Response

Cornerstone

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus name

chorus
Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Saviours love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil

(repeat chorus)

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh, may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

(repeat chorus)
The Prayers of the People
for the Church and City

Leader: Let us pray.

Unison: Our Father in Heaven, hallow-
ed be your name. Your Kingdom come,
Your will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and
forgive us our debts as we also have
forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the
glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.

Song of Preparation

How Firm A Foundation

How firm a foundation
Ye saints of the Lord
Is laid for your faith
In His excellent word
What more can He say
Than to you He hath said
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

Fear not, I am with thee
Oh, be not dismayed
For I am thy God
And will still give thee aid
Ill strengthen thee, help thee
And cause thee to stand
Upheld by My gracious, omnipotent hand

When through the deep waters
I call thee to go
The rivers of sorrow
Shall not overflow
For I will be with thee
Thy trouble to bless
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress

When through fiery trials
Thy pathway shall lie
My grace, all-sufficient
Shall be thy supply
The flame shall not harm thee
I only design
Thy dross to consume
And thy gold to refine

The soul that on Jesus
Doth lean for repose
I will not, I will not, desert to his foes
That soul, though all hell
Should endeavor to shake
Ill never, no never, no never forsake

Luke 9:18-22

Pastor John Ferguson
Songs for Communion
Jesus Messiah

He became sin who knew no sin
That we might become His righteousness
He humbled himself and carried the cross

Love so amazing, Love so amazing

chorus:
Jesus Messiah, Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer, Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners
The ransom from Heaven
Jesus Messiah, Lord of all

His body the bread, His blood the wine
Broken and poured out all for love
The whole earth trembled
And the veil was torn

Love so amazing, Love so amazing

(repeat chorus)

All our hope is in You
All our hope is in You
All the glory to You, God
The light of the world

Jesus Paid It All (O Praise the One)

I hear the Saviour say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness, watch and pray
Find in Me thine all in all

chorus
Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone
Can change the lepers spots
And melt the heart of stone

(repeat chorus)

And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
My lips shall still repeat

(repeat chorus)

Oh, praise the One who paid my debt
And raised this life up from the dead

Here I Am To Worship

Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Open my eyes, let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You

chorus
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You're my God
You're altogether lovely
All together worthy
All together wonderful to me

King of all days
Oh so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love's sake became poor

(repeat chorus)

I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross

Our Confession of Faith

~ Heidelberg Catechism #1 ~

Leader: Christian, what is your only
comfort in life and in death?

Unison: That I belongbody and soul,
in life and in deathnot to myself but
to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ, who
at the cost of His own blood has full
paid for all my sins and has completely
freed me from the dominion of the
devilthat He protects me so well that
with-out the will of my Father in
heaven, not a hair can fall from my
head; indeed, that everything must fit
his purpose for my salvation.
Therefore, by His Holy Spirit, he also
assures me of eternal life, and makes me
wholeheartedly willing and ready from
now on to live for Him!
The Benediction

~ Romans 15:13 ~

Leader: May the God of hope fill you
with all joy and peace in believing, so
that by the power of the Holy Spirit you
may abound in hope.

Unison: Amen!

Premise: A Christianity Worth Thinking About - Sunday, May 18, 6pm
Make plans to join our next meeting of Premise as we tackle what has been called
the Achilles Heel of Christianity, namely, The Problem of Evil. In this first part
of a two part series, Glen Torhjelm will be tackling this challenge to belief in
Christianity.

Our Annual Church Retreat: August 22-24
Its time to mark your calendars for our 2nd annual church retreat held at Camp
Evergreen. Our plan was to have this retreat over the September long weekend, but
the retreat centre suffered the loss of one of its main building due to collapse from
snow. To accommodate our retreat, they have reserved the weekend of August 22-24
(the week before the September long weekend) for New City Church. More info to
follow, but for now, save the date!
