W#at is Title I?
Title 6 is a federally-funded %rora&
desined to reinforce the basic and
ad)anced skills of students who are
strulin in school. Title 6 is %art of the
:o 3hild 4eft Behind Act %assed by
3onress in 2>>2.
A school is selected as a Title 6 school on
the basis of the nu&ber of fa&ilies within
its boundaries who are eliible for free or
reduced-%rice &eals. .tudents are
selected to %artici%ate based on acade&ic
need.

instruction. 6ndi)idual dianostic tests are
i)en when &ore infor&ation is needed.
Most Title 6 funds are used to hire
additional teachersD howe)er, funds are
also used to %urchase instructional

offer e=tended ti&e for learnin, and
increase %arent in)ol)e&ent.

Title 6 instructional staff %ro)ides hel% for
students ha)in difficulty with readin,
writin, &ath, and science. Title 6
instruction focuses on hel%in students
achie)e hiher acade&ic le)els and

The Title 6 staff %lans and works toether
to de)elo% %rora&s that will hel% each
child i&%ro)e %erfor&ance in readin,
writin, &ath, and science. .tudent

based on scholastic achie)e&ent.
