Title of position offered :
Development Apprentice is PRADAN's Development Apprenticeship Programme for Development Professionals.
This is a twelve-month long training programme. Those who complete apprenticeship are offered a position as
Executive in PRADAN.

Number of Vacancies :
All those who are found suitable. We make approx. 200-250 offers of appointment for Apprenticeship in a year.

Scope of Responsibilities :
Working in villages is an unconventional career for most university educated people and could entail social stress
and physical and cultural hardship which everyone may not be able to cope with. Taking these into account, we
recruit graduates and post graduates from selected campuses and provide them opportunity to make a conscious
choice about working in villages and PRADAN is able to make considered selection.

It takes no less than 12 months of rigorous reflection and learning by doing for an apprentice to graduate. It is
subsequent to this training that PRADAN makes her/him an offer as Executive. An Executive then takes
responsibility, as a member of a PRADAN team, for directly implementing a programme within the framework of a
PRADAN project within a few villages.

Eligibility criteria:
Those with minimum of 16 years of education (A four year bachelor degree in Agriculture, Veterinary sciences,
Engineering etc. or A Masters degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce, Management, Social
Work etc. which is the qualifying degree).
a. 60% and above throughout career.
b. The student would also be eligible if s/he has scores between 50-59% in any one degree (this is not
applicable for the qualifying degree).
c. For humanities and social science courses*: 55% and above in the qualifying degree.
d. Medium of instruction and examination of the last qualifying degree should be English .
e. S/he should have cleared all back papers before joining DAship.
* Humanities and social sciences include courses in anthropology, archaeology, criminology, economics, education, government, international relations,
political science, sociology, geography, history, law, psychology, ancient and modern languages, literature, philosophy, religion, and visual and
performing arts such as music and theatre.

Place of first posting:
In any of the following project locations, based on PRADANs requirements and the individual preference (project
location may change over time). Banka district of Bihar, Bastar, Dhamtari, Kanker and Raigarh districts of
Chhattisgarh; Bokaro, Dumka,Godda, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Koderma Lohardaga and West Singhbhum
districts of Jharkhand; Balaghat, Betul, Dindori, Mandla and Sidhi districts of Madhya Pradesh; Kalahandi,
Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj and Rayagada district of Odisha; Bankura, Purulia and Paschim Medinipur
districts of West Bengal.

Stipend/Pay:
As Apprentice: (in 2014-15), stipend of `15,000 per month. In addition to these, medical reimbursement of
` 6,000 p.a., mobile allowance of `500 per month after the first 4 months and accident insurance policy up to
` 2 lakh is offered.

As Executive: ** in (2015) with minimum eligibility qualification, cost to company will be approximately `33,000
which includes Basic Pay, HRA, Conveyance Allowance, LTA, Provident Fund, provision for gratuity and leave.
Apart from that medical reimbursement of ` 15,000/year, hospitalisation insurance up to ` 2 lakh for self and
dependants and accident insurance policy up to ` 2 lakh.
