Overpopulation is a problem that many countries are suffering from.
It has a detrimental effect
on many standards of life. First of all, overpopulation impacts the economy and social life harmfully. Overpopulation causes poverty which breeds crimes. This can be seen by the fact that many people after years of studying have difficulty finding appropriate jobs which may leads them to robbery. For example, in USA many shops, hotels and houses were robbed due to a power outage which lasted less than an hour. Not only that, but there are many poor families who live in ramshackle houses and ask for support through newspapers. For instance, I have read a very mournful story in the local newspaper of a poor family who call for help to collect 1000 BD to purchase a wheelchair for their sick child. This provokes me only to ask where the officials are. Additionally, countries with large numbers of people are obliged to import more goods from other nations to satisfy their peoples needs that make them fall in a huge hole they cannot climb out of easily. Secondly, the environment is also affected by overpopulation. In fact, in order to expand more areas for building sites, governments find themselves with empty pockets of choices except reclaiming lands and eliminating forests and greenery lands. A case in point of this is that in Bahrain, coasts are reclaimed daily and thus the marine life is at risk. What is worse is that many fishermen have lost their jobs as an inevitable consequence. Moreover, many people prefer using their own cars to using public transport which increases traffic congestion. This can leads to bigger problem pollution. Actually, with car and factories exhausts and the increasing trend of destroying arable lands, there is no purely fresh air to breathe. The thick smog which covered London in the 19 th century for five days left thousands of deaths. Furthermore, diseases spread much rapidly in overpopulated countries. China, India, UK and USA for example were the most seriously affected countries by swine flu. Having seen these problems increasing recently, I conclude that overpopulation is a tow truck that drags one problem after another. In my point of view, governments should get to the bottom of this problem by banning people from having more than five kids; because most families with large number of members cannot afford all their needs and have difficulty raising them properly.
Large groups of people visiting a tourist destination at one time are called mass tourism. Mass tourism provokes an enormous controversy among people. Some people believe that it has a good impact on the economy and culture while others claim that it determents far outweigh its benefits. One the one hand, it is believed that tourism allows cultures to be more opened which can aid in building better understanding and respect to distinctive backgrounds. In my trips to Oman, I found people very hospitable; they opened their hearts before their doors for me and a group of my friends and showed us the country which has left an influential impression about Omani people and culture. Besides that, people can benefit from others experience in all aspects of life. This can be clearly seen in Jordon where traditional treatments such as herbs and hot springs are known for their magical effect. Another point in favor of this is that tourism encourages governments to develop and protect beautiful areas for more attraction. In Bahrain, a large budget is assigned for restoration of forts, temples and Islamic historical sites. In addition, many parks such as Ain Athari have been improved and provided with more efficient facilities for the aim of achieving better satisfaction. On the other hand, mass tourism has a negative impact on the environment. It is often claimed that trekking activities like camping and climbing are environmentally friendly. However, they often cause massive problems. For example, after camping many careless tourists leave without cleaning up their mess which pollute these area. Not only that, but indifferent tourists build campfires without fully extinguishing them before their departure. This behavior accounts for many bushfires across European countries. Moreover, in order to make natural places more appropriate for tourists comfort, many luxury hotels, parks and restaurants are set up in mountains and forests. This damages the wildlife by cutting trees and spoiling forests. Even worse, this can deprive locals from living in their own country; many poor people are forced to abandon their homes as modern buildings replace them. Mass tourism has an adverse effect on cultures. Many insensitive tourists undermine others beliefs, traditions and customs. For instance, some women wear long necklaces to have longer necks. While this is considered to be a sign of beauty in Thailand, many tourists laugh at them and undervalue it. All in all, I believe that governments should pay more efforts to make people aware of the importance of multicultural respect. Creating professional tour operators is an approach that should be highly considered to conserve cultures and environment.
In many countries, the capital punishment plays a critical justice role to protect the society. Such ethical issue is perpetually creating an acrimonious debate among different nations. Whether capital punishment is the optimal approach of deterring crimes, it remains a double- sided argument with facts that both support and contradict it. On the one hand, it is often pointed out that death penalty protects innocents from dangerous criminals. Indeed, some statistics show that most criminals keep on their misdeeds even after being released. A possible reason that can explain this is the fact that criminals are hardly accepted and trusted by the society and thus they lack good opportunities that can encourage them to reform. More importantly, the capital punishment conserves societies from uncivilized phenomena such as revenge. Imagine one day you met the criminal who killed one of your loved ones living freely without being fairly punished. On top of that, the death penalty is an effective deterrence for people. If murders prevent jail by paying large fines, no one would fear and respect the law and an increasing trend of crimes would be a direct consequence. On the other hand, it is believed that executing someone is repellent; because everyone deserves to get another chance to reform. This is derived from the claim that no one is born with a criminal and aggressive attitude. It is the surrounding environment and circumstances that create these people. For example, If governments provide offenders with suitable jobs after being rehabilitated, criminal behavior can be widely eliminated. In addition, it is argued that other options can be more efficient than taking someones life. These may include corporal punishment, community service and life imprisonment. In a nutshell, the capital punishment in my point of view is a inevitable method to maintain a modern and civilized community that is capable of making profound contribution to the development of the world.
