I. INTRODUCTION
A. This paper sought to find out the reading ability of the learner, in order to
determine his/her difficulties in reading level through this paper. This will test
the learners ability in reading comprehension, how to recognize and how to
pronounce. This way to find correctly and how to pronounce the words of the
correct pronunciation.
B. The name of my correspondent is Jeneth Suarez. Jeneth is 11 years old.
She was studying at Andagaw Elementary School at in coming Grade 5 pupil.
Her parents are Mr. Gigi Suarez and Mrs. Jida Suarez a lovable parents. She
likes playing, dancing, watchingTV, and drawing, sometimes she likes also to
read a story like the Cinderella.

II. METHOD(S)
In this paper, the reading diagnosis use this following:
A. The Slosson Oral reading Test (SORT). This is given to be individually and
is based on the ability to pronounce words at different levels of difficulty. In
this reading as a quick estimate to get target word recognitionlevels for
children and adults.
B. San Diego Quick Assessment. This assessment is a list of words
categorized by grade level. This assessment also the graded words list has
two uses. (1) to determine a reading level and (2) to defect errors in word

analysis. San Diego Quick Assessment provides a fairly accurate estimate of
a childs ability to read grade-level materials.
C. Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT) in this test is an achievement test
which to measures an individuals ability to read words. If the child can
identify the words correctly according to his abilities.

III. PROBLEM(S)OBSERVED
A. In the Slosson Oral Reading Test. As what I observed, these are some of
the words cushion, gracious, fragrant, profitable and obedient which the
respondent cannot recognize.
In general, the learner can read well, can recognize as well as can
pronounce words correctly except those words that she cannot pronounce
well.
B. San Diego Quick Assessment. This is an assessment which is a
recognition test to find out leaners mispronounced words. As I observed my
respondent, she had reading difficulties in this assessment. In every level of
this assessment that she cannot recognize well the words according in this
San Diego Quick Assessment. The words that she cannot pronounce are,
apparatus, impetuous, intrigue, conscientious, gratuitous, prevaricate and
crunch. But she cannot pronounce the other levels in this assessment.
C. The Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT) is designed to measure the
comprehension and the reading ability of the learner. This test is appropriate
Page 2
for individual.
Based on my observation, in this test the learner has a talent in reading but
she needs more exercise in reading comprehension skills for the better
improvement. These are the following words that she cannot pronounce
correctly in this test, like the(rescinded, rudimentary, discretionary, audacious,
idiosyncrasy and pseudonym).I noticed that this learner cannot pronounce the
word that has the letter R.

IV. ANALYS(E)S
A. Slosson Oral Reading Test.
Aswhat I observed, the reason why a child cannot recognize the other words
in test is that she lacked listening skills. She needs more improvement in
Slosson Oral Reading Test to success or to improve her reading difficulties.
B. San Diego Quick Assessment.
Maybe the reason the child has reading difficulty in this assessment, is that
her teacher did not engage or motivate him mostly in reading like reading a
story, reading the alphabet and etc. In general she needs more improvement
in reading comprehension skills and self-understanding.
C. Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT).
In this WRAT, I think the possible reason why a childcannotpronouncesthose
words according in this test because those are new words for her that she
never encountered it before. In a best way if the child encountered this

situation the teacher or parents must motivate or teach the child to more
improve their reading skills.
V. RECOMMENDATION(S)
For Learner
1. Have time in reading to make it a habit.
2. Improve reading comprehension skills.
3. Should be attentive and have willingness in reading.
4. Improve listening skills.
Parents
1. Advise child to enhance more attention in reading skills.
2. Motivate child in reading books and remediate her mispronounced words.
3. Guide them inimprovingword recognition.
For Learners Teacher
1. Increase the learners familiarity of words to develop her understanding.
2. Give appropriate exercises in enhancing reading comprehension.
