SCENE I
INT. CAR
Inspector Simon Colt stares through the windshield. He then
looks at the file on his lap. He flips it open to show a
profile of a Brett Jones.
COLT(V.O.)
I should have checked the name
before I took the case.(Pause) I
should let him do it.
Colt looks this window into the camera.
COLT
Why do I hate him? Oh, dont get me
started.
Colt turns around and fidgets in his seat and turns back to
the camera.
COLT
Fine. Long story short. That little
cunt was my best friend in school
until the conniving bastard decided
to backstab me. He turned all my
friends against me, stole my
girlfriend, humiliated me in front
of her and the whole school thereby
destroying my entire fucking school
life. He needs my help now? He can
go fuck himself.
SCENE II
EXT.SKYSCRAPER
There is a big crowd around a skyscraper. There are a couple
of cars on the scene. Colt approaches the Officer.
COLT
Where is he?
OFFICER
On the 87th floor, sir.
COLT
Anyone talking to him?
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 2.
OFFICER
Officer Matilda is with him.
COLT
Okay. Good job. Ill take over now.
SCENE III
INT.BRETTS OFFICE
Colt enters a room with the name Brett Jones on it. He sees
Officer Matilda standing near the window.
COLT
Officer Matilda?
Matilda turns around to face Colt.
MATILDA
Inspector.
COLT
Whats the situation?
MATILDA
Hes drunk. I have somewhat calmed
him down. I need just a little more
time, sir.
COLT
Its fine. You did well. Ill take
over.
Matilda reluctantly walks out the door.
COLT
Whyd you bring your sorry ass here
to this ledge?
Brett is sitting on a ledge with a bottle of whisky all
ready to jump. He turns towards Colt when he hears his
voice. Brett laughs.
BRETT
I didnt expect you to be the last
person I talk to. Came here to say
goodbye?
COLT
Actually, yes. This might turn out
to be the happiest day of my life.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 3.
BRETT
Arent you supposed to be saving my
life?
COLT
Youve taught me that its okay to
be selfish sometimes.
BRETT
I did huh? (Pause) I guess youre
not the only one that hates me.
COLT
Yeah, youve been quite an asshole.
BRETT
Yeah. so hows life been treating
you?
COLT
Pretty good in fact. Nice family.
Wife and two kids. A boy and a
girl. Good job. And after today, I
wont have much to complain about.
BRETT
Nice to hear that.
Brett gulps down the last of his whisky.
BRETT
Hey, man...Im sorry for what I did
to you back in school. I was young
and stupid.
COLT
Hey. Hey. I forgive you. Its okay
man. You just ruined my childhood.
No big deal.
Colt turns around, paces up the room and comes back to the
window.
COLT
Fuck you, man. I didnt have any
God damn friends when I was a kid.
Not one. All thanks to you. I was
bullied so much that I had to leave
my parents and live with my uncle
in a different town. Do you know
how hard it is to live life when
everyone hates you? Do you?
Brett is tearing up.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 4.
BRETT
I do. Why do you think Im sitting
on this ledge right now? Because
its funny? No. (Pause) Yeah, you
werent the only one that suffered
after I humiliated you. Sure, they
were all laughing with me but no
one ever trusted me after that. I
was just as friendless as you were.
They were friendly for some time
but after you left, things changed.
Everyone hated me for what I did to
you. I went through the same shit
as you. So, stop whining. That was
17 years ago. Get over it.
COLT
Youre one to talk.
BRETT
Was it your wife who spent all your
hard earned money and sleep with
every man she eyed? (Pause) Look,
my life is a mess and I dont want
it anymore. Just let me go.
COLT
Im not stopping you.
BRETT
Some cop you are.
Brett prepares to jump.
COLT
Wait. Before you jump...I forgive
you.
BRETT
How so?
COLT
Listening to that story of how your
life got fucked up after you fucked
me over made me a little happy.
Brett laughs.
BRETT
Goodbye. This was good. Im going
to die happy.
Brett jumps. Montage of Bretts life and it is interrupted
as he hits a net.
(CONTINUED)

BRETT
FUCK YOU! CANT YOU LET A MAN DIE
IN PEACE?
COLT
SORRY. I HAVE A JOB TO DO.
Colt laughs and walks towards the door.
