Were the Dark Ages were truly dark

The Middle Ages stretched roughly from 500 AD through 1500 AD.
Some people say that during the Middle Ages, Europe experienced The
Dark Ages. However, I think the Middle Ages were not truly dark because
there were new innovations, learnings, and technologies. The Dark Ages
are characterized by Loss Of Learning, DeCentralized Government, and
Loss of Common Language. But, there wasnt a total loss of learning for
everyone in Europe at that time. The western part of Europe changed after
fall of the Roman Empire because of the Barbarian Invasion. Europe
developed a defensive system called feudalism as a way to defend
themselves from the invasion or of the bad happening to the country.
The dark ages were not dark because there were a good things and not
dark. First good thing was that their feudal contract was about staying safe
from any bad things or invasion. For example: if vassal and lord made a
feudal contract, and lord would give vassal land, then the vassal have to
give him a loyalty, and military service. Vassal would have everything in the
land of the lord, so they didnt have to go out of the land to search for
needs. This helps them by staying safe because they will be inside of the
land, and will not be invaded. However the feudalism saved them because
they all were united and stayed at their lands protecting their lands or they
were ready for the enemies attack. This means that people didnt have
Dark Ages, because they would have everything inside of their lands.
The second reason why dark ages were not truly dark because they
didnt have loss of learning. The functions were provided during the Middle
Ages according to Gray C.Boyce, in Europe, in 1964. He Says, Even at its
worst it performed the function of guarding, frequently by accident and
chance, the knowledge and treasures of what had come before, but even
more it was creative, inventive, and transmitted to later ages great riches of
its own. This means that they were creative, inventive and created their
own knowledge, then they passed their knowledge to their new
generations.

The third reason was why dark ages were not truly dark because there
were a lot of universities found in the twelfth century through fifteenth
century in Europe. Based on this evidence, the author would disagree that
the dark ages were truly dark, because one of the dark ages characteristic
was that there was loss of common language, learnings, and no schools.
However, this chart shows that there were a lot of universities during the
Middle Ages. This explains that the dark ages were not truly dark.
So, the Middle Ages were not dark because people were creating new
inventions, new ideas, new systems, and new government. For example: in
Europe people created a defensive system called feudalism, which helps
people to stay in one land, or near their lords. Additionally, there werent
any loss of learning because people created a lot of universities, then
people got a learnings and the new civilization started.
